Yard Lumber Stacker - Muscoda, WI **Sedona Staffing Services** 0 Positions ID: 52211213 Posted On 11/13/2025 Refreshed On 01/14/2026 **Job Overview** LUMBER STACKERS HOURS: 1ST SHIFT WAGE: $16-$17/HOUR LOCATION: MUSCODA, WI Position Summary: As a Lumber Stacker, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently stacking, organizing, and preparing lumber for drying, storage, shipment, or further processing. You play a key role in maintaining production flow, ensuring product quality and safety in the yard or mill environment. Key Responsibilities: 1. Stack rough-sawn or planed lumber in large piles or on kiln cars as required. 2. Insert “stickers” (thin boards) between layers of lumber to permit air circulation for drying, and secure stacks correctly. 3. Monitor stacking machines (if automated) and/or manually stack boards according to specification, ensuring neat, stable, and safe stacks. 4. Assist with loading/unloading of kiln cars, trucks, or yard stacks. 5. Perform regular inspection and housekeeping of your work area: remove debris, maintain clean walking surfaces, ensure safe conditions. 6. Work with team members (ground support and top stackers) to keep production moving and meet throughput targets. 7. Follow all safety rules, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and participate in safety reviews or Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) as required. 8. Other duties as assigned by supervision to support yard/mill operations. Qualifications / Skills: 1. High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent experience. 2. Previous experience in lumber yard, sawmill, or stacking operations preferred but not always required. 3. Ability to lift and move heavy materials (e.g., boards, bundles of lumber) repeatedly and safely. 4. Good physical stamina: standing, walking, climbing, bending, lifting, and working in varying temperatures (yard, kiln, mill). 5. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills to follow instructions, read stack tags/labels, measure lengths, etc. 6. Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors. 7. Willingness to follow safety protocols and operate in a potentially noisy, fast-paced industrial environment. Work Conditions / Physical Requirements: 1. Physical labor oriented job: lifting heavy boards or bundles (50+ lbs typical), repetitive motions, exposure to outdoor/indoor yard, kiln, and mill environments. 2. May be required to work shift schedules (including early mornings, nights, weekends) depending on production. 3. Exposure to dust, wood particles, possible kiln heat, and machinery; PPE required (gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, etc.). 4. Safety risk: working around moving equipment, forklifts, stackers, conveyors; vigilance required.
