Job Summary
Responsible for loading, unloading, organizing, cleaning, and moving materials within the warehouse, rental yard, or worksite, and maintaining efficient yard operations and ensuring the safe handling of materials.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Reviews work orders and shipping orders to locate and prepare products in the warehouse or rental yard.
Loads and unloads materials onto or from trucks, pallets, trays, and racks manually or using equipment.
Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials, marks information on cases, bundles, and other packaging containers.
Stacks and assembles materials or equipment into bundles, using banding, skids, and containers appropriately.
Cleans products, materials, equipment, and yard area to maintain a safe and debris-free yard.
Participates in routine inventory cycle counts. Identifies, sorts, and organizes hardware and inventory materials.
Operates equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and other yard machinery to move materials and equipment throughout the location.
Complies with all safety policies and company procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.
Nature and Scope
May modify processes to resolve situations.
Under limited supervision, relies on experience and exercises independent judgment to determine the best approach to achieve desired outcomes. Course of action is often determined by interpreting procedures and policies. Work typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor or direct customers of the process.
Is sought out and/or assigned to provide general guidance/direction, training, and technical assistance to junior level support personnel. Contributes to employees' professional development but does not have hiring/firing authority.
Work Environment
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time.
Education and Experience
Technical certification or associate degree may be required in some areas. Generally 5-7 years of experience in a related area of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
UNION STARTING RATE SET AT $19.20/HOUR
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a rental, warehouse, or distribution environment as a material handler.
Must be a trained and certified forklift operator with a current, valid license.
Prior experience operating air tools, power tools, and hand tools.
