Join us and get your career moving! **Job Summary** The Heavy-Duty Mechanic (HDM) is responsible for performing inspections, major and minor repairs, overhauls and servicing on all types of Maintenance of way equipment (Heavy duty equipment). **Working Conditions** + The role operates either on a 9-days-on, 5-days-off or 8-days-on, 6-days-off rotational schedule away from home + Ability to work irregular shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime + 90% field environment from a service truck + Regular travel up to 90% + Willing to travel for work across British Colombia, Alberta and Saskatchewan + Company provided accommodations + Ability to work full time from a service truck **Major Responsibilities** + Heavy Duty Mechanics (HDM) perform major and minor repairs, overhauls and servicing on all types of Maintenance of way equipment + Inspect, service and maintain Maintenance of way equipment, in accordance with federal and company regulations, including repairing, replacing, cleaning and adjusting parts + Diagnose diesel engine malfunctions and make required repairs + Use electric and oxy-acetylene welding equipment, lubrication equipment and other repair tools and equipment, and operate said tools and machinery in a safe and effective manner + Prepare inspection, maintenance, and work reports, and record details on prescribed forms in accordance with established procedures + Operate a service truck (F550 or similar) in accordance with federal and company policies **Requirements** + High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) + Red Seal in either Heavy Duty Mechanic, Commercial Transport Mechanic, or Automotive Mechanic. + A valid driver’s license + Using measuring devices and understanding visual displays + Basic technical knowledge of diesel mechanics + Good hand-eye coordination + Dedicated to getting the job done while meeting established standards of quality, safety, and client satisfaction + Frequent lifting / carrying up to 50 lbs.
