Our client, a leading enterprise organization, is seeking an experienced Windows Systems Administrator to join their team **.** In this role, you will manage and modernize a complex Microsoft-based hosting environment, working closely with application teams to support and upgrade legacy infrastructure and align with broader organizational consolidation efforts.
**Job Title:** Windows Systems Administrator
**Location:** Remote (Candidates preferred in EST/CST time zones)
**Type:** W2 Contract – not open to C2C
**Terms:** 6-month contract (potential for extension)
**Top Skills:**
• Windows Server & Microsoft Services (AD, ADFS, IIS, MSMQ, SQL Server)
• DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) in Windows environments
• Experience with hybrid environments (Windows & Linux)
**What You’ll Do:**
• Provide day-to-day administration of a Microsoft domain, including patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting
• Manage and maintain key Microsoft services including IIS, ADFS, SQL Server, and MSMQ
• Support web applications and services hosted primarily on Windows servers with Linux-based backing services (e.g., Redis, PostgreSQL, Splunk)
• Maintain and renew certificates for ADFS and IIS applications
• Work alongside application teams to support production issues and modernization initiatives
• Participate in project work aimed at consolidating infrastructure (e.g., migrating logging from Splunk to Datadog, retiring legacy CI/CD tools)
• Evaluate and support potential migration paths to Azure hosting
• Modify and maintain ADFS configurations to support external identity providers
• Collaborate with internal teams and troubleshoot third-party integrations (e.g., Snowflake)
**What You Bring:**
• Strong experience supporting externally facing web applications in a Microsoft server environment
• Expertise in managing and configuring: Windows Server, IIS, Active Directory, ADFS, MSMQ, SQL Server
• Experience supporting or collaborating with DevOps or SRE teams
• Working knowledge of Linux environments (especially Ubuntu, Redis, PostgreSQL)
• Familiarity with load balancers (e.g., Kemp, Netscaler)
• Exposure to tools like TeamCity, Octopus, GitHub Actions, and Splunk
• A generalist mindset with a willingness to learn and troubleshoot legacy systems
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
• Nice to have: Experience with server upgrades and system testing
