Wholesale Fuels Operations Director

Job Summary


The Wholesale Fuels Operations Director is responsible for overseeing current wholesale fuel dealer accounts, commercial fuel accounts, affiliated franchisee fuel accounts, and acquiring new dealer business.  The position requires in-depth analysis of new business fuel supply contracts, leases, and acquisitions, as well as creating and delivering presentations of new business proposals to senior management. Serves as a liaison between dealer, real estate, retail, franchise, and administrative networks across business units and shared services. Additionally, the Wholesale Fuels Operations Director will assist with wholesale fuel marketer acquisitions, provide comprehensive site and operator reviews, along with recommendations for new wholesale fuels and franchise business opportunities. Reports directly to the Director of Circle K Wholesale Fuels.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for all aspects of wholesale fuels business performance in North America.Provide expertise and advice to Circle K Wholesale Fuels leadership and the Senior Leadership Team on overall business direction and performance.Develop growth strategy for all aspects of the wholesale business in conjunction with Circle K Wholesale Leadership Team.Directly manage the wholesale operations team and Dealer Business Managers.Implement strategy and build organizational capability across the organization in support of the agreed strategy.Achieve Financial Objectives: Forecast requirements, prepare budgets, manage expenditures, stay within budget, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions.Provide direction for all activities related to wholesale fuels operations including: (1) Wholesale Operations; (2) Facility management and maintenance; (3) Fuel Supply and Distribution; (4) Business retention and renewal strategy; (5) Business development and growth.Collaborate with Departments: Work closely with Wholesale Fuels Operations team, Franchise group, and Regional Business Unit departments, including Real Estate, Franchise, Marketing, and Finance, regarding marketing plans and site approvals.Understand Fuel Supply Agreements: have working knowledge of the PMPA, dealer, and commercial fuel agreements, and work with the support team on the completion of new contracts.Maintain Professional Knowledge: Attend educational workshops, read professional publications, establish personal networks, and participate in professional societies to maintain and enhance professional and technical knowledge.Attend Trade Shows: Exhibit supply offers at market trade shows.Contribute to Team Financial Targets: Achieve financial and key result area targets in line with company guidelines.

Requirements

Ten or more years of Wholesale Fuel Operations experience – including dealer management, fuel pricing, maintenance and fuel distribution/sourcingExperience in transforming and building an effective organizationExcellent leadership skills to implement new business strategyExcellent business communications skills, both written and verbalDetail-oriented, flexible and creative, and highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently on confidential mattersAbility to work well under pressure, to balance competing priorities and meet strict deadlinesComfortable working with different stakeholders and working collaborativelyMaster's degree strongly recommendedProficiency in MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word are essentialExperience using a CRM tool or other organizational tool to track leadsA positive, can-do attitude and creative thinking skills are necessaryGoal-oriented, with a focus on achieving both individual and group objectives within the Development departmentAbility to multi-task and work independentlyAbility to travel extensively for new business and trade showsSignificant travel is expected, potentially accounting for over 75% of the position's working time.Possess a valid driver’s license
