Job Description
The Welding & Assembly Automation Engineer will lead the design, development, and optimization of automated welding and assembly systems across industries including aerospace, tracked vehicles, automotive, and construction. This engineer will design and implement robotic welding cells, assembly automation, and integrated controls systems while supporting commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts.
This role is hands‑on, highly technical, and involves collaborating with mechanical, controls, and electrical engineering teams to deliver automated manufacturing solutions that improve safety, quality, cycle time, and throughput.
Skills & Qualifications
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (preferred)
U.S. Citizenship required; must be eligible for a U.S. Government security clearance
Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills
Detail-oriented with a high commitment to quality and safety
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and technical documentation tools
Nice to Haves
Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng)
CAD & automation simulation software experience
Lean/Six Sigma process improvement experience
Experience across aerospace, automotive, tracked vehicles, construction equipment
HMI development experience
Prior government/DoD project exposure

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Auburn Hills, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
