Job Description
In our Edenton location, we build parts that end up on military mobile equipment-armor, structural components, brackets, and anything else that needs to survive hard use in the real world. If you're the kind of welder who takes pride in strong, clean, repeatable welds, then you should apply. The parts you'll build aren't decorative. Essential Duties
Weld mild steel and armor steel plate using GMAW (MIG) in all positions
+ Read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and build specs
+ Set up welding equipment, choose correct parameters, and verify fit‑ups before welding
+ Perform multi‑pass welds, full‑penetration welds, and high‑strength joints for mission‑critical components
+ Work with jigs/fixtures and help problem‑solve when parts need adjustment
+ Follow required weld procedures (WPS) and adhere to quality/inspection standards
+ Grind, clean, and prep metal surfaces as needed
+ Keep your work area safe, organized, and compliant with all shop and defense‑related requirements
+ Support continuous improvement-better processes, better parts, fewer headaches
Education Level
Vocational school welding graduate or similar welding education
Experience
+ Solid experience in GMAW welding on plate steel; armor steel experience is a plus
+ Comfortable welding in vertical, horizontal, overhead, and flat positions
+ Ability to read blueprints and understand tolerances
+ Strong understanding of weld quality, welding workmanship, and heat control
+ Ability to lift and maneuver heavy materials safely
+ A mindset focused on safety, precision, and accountability
+ Willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute
Experience in a manufacturing or defense-related environment is preferred. Familiarity with armor steel (AR plate, MIL‑spec alloys, etc).
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to have the ability to concentrate and perform responsibilities by maintaining a constant state of focus and mental alertness. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands (including gripping & grasping) and reach with arms. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee will frequently walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision requirements such as color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. There is frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts with occasional exposure to wet and/ or humid conditions and extreme cold or heat. The employee is at risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
