Job Description:

The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for the fabrication, welding, repair, and rebuilding of trash containers, self-contained compactors, and related waste handling equipment. This role requires strong MIG welding skills, the ability to read and interpret drawings, and a commitment to safety, quality, and productivity in a manufacturing or rebuild environment.

Hourly rate: $25.38 - $28.00 (Based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

Fabricate, assemble, and weld steel trash containers, compactors, and waste handling equipment according to blueprints, specifications, and work ordersPerform MIG welding on carbon steel of varying thicknesses, producing structurally sound and consistent weldsRead and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding symbolsFit, tack, weld, and finish container components, including sides, floors, doors, lids, hinges, rails, and reinforcementsDisassemble, rebuild, and repair self-contained compactors, including structural steel components, hoppers, charge boxes, floors, and door assembliesCut out damaged or worn material and fabricate replacement sections to original or improved specificationsPerform welding repairs in high-wear and high-stress areas to restore structural integrity and extend equipment lifeAssist with reassembly, alignment, and fitment of rebuilt components to ensure proper operationInspect completed welds and assemblies to ensure quality, strength, and compliance with company standardsOperate cutting equipment such as torches, plasma cutters, and grinders to prepare materialsSafely operate shop equipment, including welders, forklifts, cranes, and hand toolsRepair or rework welds as required to meet quality expectationsMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all timesFollow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)Meet production and rebuild schedules while maintaining high workmanship standardsCommunicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding job progress, quality concerns, or material needs
