Job Description

We are seeking a skilled welder for our engineering facility located in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. This position operates on the 2nd shift from 2pm to 10:30pm. The successful candidate will initially train on the 1st shift for 3-6 months from 6am to 2:30pm. Pay is competitive and based on experience.

$60,000 - $83,200

Responsibilities

Read, interpret, and fabricate from both simple and complex drawings associated with carbon steel and alloy steel metal fabrication.Perform layout, fit-up, and weld-outs of various types of valve and plug assemblies, including structural supports or attachments, ensuring adherence to applicable quality requirements.Interpret weld procedures and adjust welding equipment to the correct voltage and amperage settings for the specific electrode or wire used.Tack-weld all fit-ups and perform final welding in all positions.Weld carbon, alloy steels, and stainless steel using various weld processes such as submerged-arc, shielded metal-arc, gas tungsten-arc, and flux core welding.Identify materials, prepare for welding, and perform fit-up to dimensional tolerances.Understand and lead all lean manufacturing initiatives within the department.Assist the Shop Foreman in directing and coaching employees on lean principles.Communicate effectively with both shop and office personnel.Perform other duties as assigned by the manager to meet business needs.

Essential Skills

8+ years of TIG Welding experience.5+ years of experience in a highly controlled industry.Proficiency in blueprint reading.Experience with ASME Section IX.Strong understanding of various welding processes such as GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, and PTAW.Ability to pass a welding test.Experience or exposure to Lean Manufacturing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with stellite inlay/overlay and plasma welding is preferred.Experience with hard facing materials like stellite and colmonoy in commercial, nuclear, or safety-related environments is highly preferred.Leadership skills and ability to influence others.
