Job Description

We are seeking a skilled welder for our engineering facility located in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. This position requires working on the 2nd shift from 2pm to 10:30pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays. Initially, training will take place on the 1st shift from 6am to 2:30pm for a period of 3-6 months. The role involves manual gas, electric arc, and semi-automatic high-pressure and structural type welding to close tolerances. Approximately 60% of the work will be GTAW (TIG) and 40% Plasma welding.

ResponsibilitiesRead, interpret, and fabricate from simple or complex drawings related to carbon steel and alloy steel metal fabrication.Perform layout, fit-up, and weld-outs of various assemblies, including valve and plug assemblies, and structural supports or attachments.Interpret weld procedures and adjust welding equipment to correct voltage and amperage settings.Tack-weld all fit-ups and perform final welding in all positions.Weld carbon, alloy steels, and stainless steel using various processes such as submerged-arc weld, shielded metal-arc weld, gas tungsten-arc weld, and flux core weld.Identify materials, prepare for welding, make necessary layouts, manually grind bevels, and perform fit-up to dimensional tolerances.Understand and lead lean manufacturing initiatives within the department.Assist the Shop Foreman in directing and coaching employees on lean manufacturing practices.Perform other duties as assigned by the manager to meet business needs.Communicate effectively with shop and office personnel.Essential Skills8+ years of TIG welding experience, particularly with stellite inlay/overlay.5+ years of experience working in a highly controlled industry.Proficiency in blueprint reading and familiarity with ASME Section IX.Experience with MIG and stick welding.Strong communication skills and ability to lead and influence others.Additional Skills & QualificationsProficiency in Plasma Transferred ARC Welding (PTAW).Knowledge of GTAW-HF (High Frequency Gas Tungsten ARC Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal ARC Welding), and GMAW (Gas Metal ARC Welding).Must pass a welding test.Experience or exposure to lean manufacturing.Prior experience with hard facing materials such as stellite and colmonoy in commercial, nuclear, and/or safety-related environments is highly preferred.Why Work Here?

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $83200.00/yr.
