**Job Title: Welder**
**Job Description**
Join our team as a Welder, where you will utilize your skills in welding to form arcs, melt, and deposit metal to join edges of work pieces. This role involves guiding electrodes or guns along weld lines, maintaining precision to achieve the desired depth of fusion and bead size. You will also perform welding in various positions such as flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead, and ensure welds meet specific quality standards.
**Responsibilities**
+ Manually guide electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining arc length and speed.
+ Examine welds for bead size and other specifications.
+ Apply filler rod manually to supply weld metal.
+ Clean or degrease weld joints or work pieces.
+ Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
+ Prepare broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces.
+ Chip off excess weld, slag, and spatter.
+ Preheat work pieces with a hand torch or heating furnace.
+ Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in jigs or fixtures.
+ Tack assemblies together.
**Essential Skills**
+ Experience with blueprints (preferred).
+ MIG welding experience (1+ years manually welding).
+ Basic understanding of welding fundamentals.
+ Experience with stainless, mild, or carbon steel.
+ Positive attendance history.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
+ Eagerness to learn.
+ Experience with hand/power tools.
+ Comfortable working in a non-temperature controlled environment.
+ Open to overtime.
+ 1st shift availability.

**Work Environment**
Work in a medium-sized, relatively clean facility that is not temperature-controlled, which can get very hot in the summer. The environment is equipped with necessary tools and equipment for welding and assembly tasks.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Altamont, Illinois.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
