As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, you will be responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the wastewater treatment facility. You will perform daily monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and process adjustments to ensure all systems meet environmental regulatory requirements. This role also includes inspecting facility structures, recommending repairs or system modifications, assessing utility usage, and supporting energy‑efficient, cost‑effective operations.
ResponsibilitiesOperate and maintain the wastewater treatment facility in full compliance with environmental laws and regulations.Inspect building structures to identify the need for repairs or renovations.Recommend mechanical, electrical, and facility design modifications to improve operations.Analyze utility consumption and provide recommendations for energy efficiency and cost reductions.Coordinate system repairs and monitor system performance.Maintain an accurate inventory of parts and supplies; order replacements as needed.Participate in equipment audits and ensure proper record‑keeping.Adhere to sanitation standards and all facility SOPs.Perform pH testing, sampling, and wastewater process monitoring.Conduct preventative maintenance on pumps, valves, blowers, motors, and other system components.Essential SkillsExperience in wastewater operations and facility maintenance.Mechanical and electrical systems knowledge.Experience performing wastewater testing (pH, DO, COD/BOD, etc.).Ability to safely handle wastewater treatment chemicals.Ability to operate and maintain wastewater treatment equipment and systems.Additional Skills & QualificationsGrade 1 Wastewater Certification (Required)2–3 years of relevant experience preferredUnderstanding of wastewater lab testing, logs, and regulatory requirementsStrong knowledge of pump and valve maintenance and PM programsFamiliarity with electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systemsAbility to maintain confidentiality with sensitive informationUnderstanding of warehouse control systemsAbility to read and interpret complex mechanical, electrical, and automation schematicsWhy Work Here?Join a company with over 100 years of success, known for safety, innovation, and a culture built on trust and long‑term employee development.
