**Job Title: Plant Operator**
**Job Description**
We are seeking a Plant Operator to join our team in New Haven. This position involves inspecting, maintaining, and controlling process equipment, as well as performing mechanical maintenance throughout the water pollution control plant. You will work closely with experienced operators to become proficient in all departments within the New Haven facility.
**Responsibilities**
+ Inspect and maintain process equipment.
+ Perform mechanical maintenance tasks such as greasing equipment, changing belts, and oil changes in gearboxes.
+ Handle receipt of supply shipments.
+ Maintain records of plant operations including hourly operating data, plant violations, and abnormal operating conditions.
+ Perform fire guard duty and confined space watch.
+ Conduct general housekeeping tasks to ensure the facility remains safe, clean, and efficient.
**Essential Skills**
+ Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience in fields like construction, automotive, or mechanical maintenance.
+ Reliable vehicle for transportation.
+ Ability to work varying shifts, including overtime, holidays, on-call duty, and emergency call-ins.
+ Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills, including the ability to read a tape measure and use hand tools.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Ability to read and comprehend instructional manuals, technical data, work orders, and mechanical drawings in English.
+ Physical capacity to perform duties at heights up to 20 feet.
+ Proficiency in using industrial forklifts and man lifts.
+ Skill in operating hand and power tools.
+ Capability to lift up to 100 pounds and navigate all areas of the plant.
**Work Environment**
The facility operates 24/7/365, with shifts divided among operators. Candidates will initially work 2nd shift (3PM-11PM) or 3rd shift (11PM-7AM), with opportunities to move to 1st shift based on tenure. The schedule follows a 6-week block: working 4 days, off for 2 days, and repeating. Dress code requires neat work pants or jeans, t-shirts without rips, holes, or explicit language, and steel-toed work boots.

**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Haven, Connecticut.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $24.04 - $24.04/hr.
