BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as an Warehouse Team Leader at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.


Key Accountabilities:

Coordinate the activities of the team members including the assignment of tasks and logistics objectivesTrain new members (safety rules in the operation of equipment, cleaning of the workplace and 5S, incoming/outbound procedures)Training of all employees of the teams for each warehouse area to the level of certification following the operator certification processFacilitate continuous improvement within the team and provide support in implementing improvements, focusing on safety, quality, cost, delivery, and motivationActively participate in problem solving (8D, 6M, 5 Whys related to safety and quality issues)Conduct daily meetings with team members and facilitate communication between shifts with a focus on product performance indicators (OEE, Through-Puts, customer incidents/alerts, scrap, accidents/ security incidents, on-time delivery, repack to order, incoming and outbound staging times)Support and implement production tools (Visual support, JIT, 5S, Kanban)Responsible process control, using tools in use: Preventive Maintenance, Poka-yoke Control, Startup Checklist, LPALead, motivate and support the development of team membersProvide initial support for operators' personal issues (management of absences, vacations, personal problems, etc.)Lead and actively participate in the collection of data/information necessary for warehouse proceduresEnsure adherence to control plans by conducting daily auditsSupport Engineering and Production in the development and validation phase of the process of the new programs, specifically on the full cadence production day (run@rate) and in the production part approval process (PPAP - Production Part Approval Process)Responsible for Inbound and Outbound Warehouse activities, assuring needed flexibility and teams management between areasDefine a rotating schedule for the teams to work between processes (Inbound and Outbound)Define needs for the different processes, present resources analysis to Area Supervisor in terms of people, equipment, tools, layout improvements, among othersManage team needs in terms of machine operation certification, namely forklifts handling. Assure the correct usage and accessEstablish continuous improvement plans that lead to a more efficient organizationFacilitate efficient and open communication within the department and with other departments in the organizationEnsure and respect the compliance with safety and cleanliness rules of the workplaceContinuously ensure the improvement of health, safety and environmental conditionsParticipate in the definition, implementation and maintenance of the organization's policiesParticipate in the definition of objectives of the Environmental Management Policy, Health and Safety at WorkActively participate in the continuous improvement of the Environmental Management Policy, Health and Safety at WorkEnsure compliance with environmental, health and safety at work standards, policies and practices in accordance with their level of responsibilityDevelop a culture characterized by good professional ethics and involvement in the process among employees in all areasComply with the organization's rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, practice and working periodComply with environmental, health and safety, quality and productivity standardsPerform other tasks not included in the activity for which they were hired, when the needs or convenience of service so warrant, for the period of time necessary for the aforementioned needs or convenience of service

Education & Experience

Secondary Education, preferably with technical-professional training, or a degree in engineering or a related fieldPrevious experience in a similar role (experience in automotive environment will be valued)Experience in managing team with at least 30 people will be valuedKnowledge and experience on automated material handling equipment’s such as forklifts (valid certification for SAFE HANDLING OF FORKLIFT TRUCK TRAINING preferred)Problem Solving (5W; Ishikawa; PDCA; 8D) (preferred)Knowledge of quality toolsKnowledge of automotive industry standardsComputer knowledge from the user's perspectiveKnowledge of Lean tools (preferred)Knowledge in the logistics, namely warehouse management (valued)Leadership skills (participation in leadership trainings will be valued)Conflict ManagementPro-active and team building capabilitiesQuality decisionResults OrientedFluent in PortugueseFluent in English (preferable)
