Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to own and scale Canadian domestic indirect clearing products and services delivered to financial institutions. This role covers the full product lifecycle across Payments Canada schemes (Lynx, ACSS, and RTR) and the related instruments (cheque imaging, wires, EFT/EDI, bill payments), as well as third party providers such as Interac (eTransfer, Bulk eTransfer, Konek, Interac Debit, etc.), Symcor, and others. The VP Product Manager will drive commercial strategy, product development, operational readiness, technology delivery, and regulatory compliance, ensuring sponsor-bank models and agency clearing arrangements meet rigorous risk, resiliency, and client experience standards. The ideal candidate brings deep Canadian payments expertise, client-centric execution, and P&L accountability, with a strong ability to define requirements and lead multi-stakeholder programs.
Key Accountabilities
Strategic Leadership
Define and execute a multi-year product strategy and roadmap for domestic indirect clearing (sponsorship and agency models) aligned to Transaction Banking growth objectives, Payments Canada market evolution, and client needs of financial institutions.Conduct market scans and competitive analysis of Canadian sponsor-bank offerings to identify growth opportunities and product differentiation.Define portfolio-level OKRs/KPIs and ensure alignment with Transaction Banking OKRs.Represent TD in Canadian industry forums to shape standards, advocate for sponsor-bank enhancements, and monitor regulatory change.Product Ownership
Own the end-to-end lifecycle of cross-border CAD clearing products, including value proposition, pricing, SLAs, operating model, and P&L.Own the end-to-end lifecycle of indirect clearing products across Lynx, ACSS/EFT, RTR, and Interac - including value proposition, pricing, SLAs, operating model, and P&L - with clear segmentation for banks, credit unions, and NBFIs.Ensure product competitiveness through market analysis, benchmarking, performance analytics, and client feedback loops.Establish and maintain product documentation (product manuals, service descriptions, SLAs, operating procedures, playbooks).Product Development & Delivery
Translate product strategy and roadmap into features, epics, and user stories.Lead backlog prioritization and delivery using Agile practices.Define comprehensive functional and non-functional requirements that span the entire product lifecycle.Prepare comprehensive business cases to substantiate the development of new features and capabilities.Partner with various teams to deliver new capabilities & enhancements and drive operational readiness.Client Engagement
Serve as the product SME with FI and NBFI clients by leading discovery, demos, solutioning, sponsor-bank contract negotiations, and RFP responses.Support onboarding and complex implementations where required.Champion the client’s voice in product design – collect and synthesize feedback, manage feature requests, and ensure measurable client outcomes.Build strong relationships with Payments Canada, participant banks, payment networks, and service providers.Commercialization
Develop pricing models, monitor P&L performance and unit economics, and implement margin improvement initiatives.Partner with Sales & Coverage teams on go-to-market plans and post-sale expansion strategies.Risk & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure that products and services adhere to all applicable regulations, industry standards, and market best practices, especially Payments Canada Rules and Bank of Canada requirements.Integrate robust controls and resiliency measures within product design.Lead product risk assessments and adhere to enterprise risk and product development policies.Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field; MBA or equivalent an asset.7–10 years in transaction banking/payments product management, with deep expertise in Canadian domestic clearing and sponsor-bank/agency models.Expert knowledge of Payments Canada rails, rules and standards: Lynx, ACSS/EFT, RTR, cheque imaging, ISO20022 standard, and Interac products; familiarity with SWIFT for cross-border adjacencies.Proven ability to define requirements, manage complex delivery programs in Agile environment, and influence senior stakeholders.Commercial acumen with experience in pricing, P&L management, and strategic business case development.Strong risk and compliance orientation; experience embedding controls in product design.Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.Nice-to-Have
Experience with liquidity and intraday funding (nostro/vostro), and credit line structures.Experience with data analytics (e.g., SQL/BI tools) and dashboard creation to monitor KPIs and product health.Familiarity with Treasury products adjacent to clearing (cash management, multicurrency accounts, cross-currency sweeps) as well as institutional deposits.Prior experience working with Payments Canada working groups or SWIFT Canadian forums.Relevant certifications in Agile, Payments, Treasury, or others.Who We Are:
