VP, JCPenney Analytics Leader
Job Description: **Role Summary/Purpose:** The role of Vice President, JCP Analytics Leader is responsible for leading an analytics team to develop analytic capabilities, optimization solutions and actionable insights for JCP credit products as well as JCP Retail business in partnership with the client. This will include portfolio diagnostics, marketing planning, measurement and optimization, customer analytics, customer targeting & segmentation, customer purchase behavior analytics, Financial Forecasting, reporting, and other analytic capabilities to improve business strategies and decisions across customer journey. Example strategies/decisions could include Acquisition Marketing and Lifecycle marketing across channels, value prop optimization, Early Month on Book strategies, customer experience, customer retention, retail analytics, operational effectiveness and P&L optimization. This leader will closely collaborate with senior leaders from clients' organizations and internal business partners to drive growth and profitability for the JCP credit portfolio. This leader will also foster strong partnership with Analytics and Growth CoEs to develop and deliver analytic and marketing capabilities for JCP, including Data Share, Product Decision Optimization, customer engagement analytics and other strategic analytic capabilities. Last but not least, he/she will recruit, retain and develop strong analytic talent across US and India and serve as a key member of the Diversified & Value and Lifestyle analytic leadership team **Essential Responsibilities:** + Provide strategic analytic leadership to the JCP card portfolio and as needed, to support the JCP Retail business + Develop analytic strategy and roadmap to help achieve business goals and drive profitable growth opportunities in partnership with Marketing, Finance, Credit and Field Sales + Spearhead analytic development and delivery for new product launches, value propositions, customer acquisitions, lifecycle marketing and customer experience initiatives + Lead analytic and cross functional teams to design, develop, implement and monitor analytic solutions + Consistently measure and communicate incremental value of analytic capabilities for all relevant use cases + Lead team to continually innovate and deliver new/creative analytic solutions resulting in actionable insight and incremental business value + Serve as strategic partner through strong partnership and engagement with both internal SYF functional leaders/teams and client leaders/teams + Effectively partner with internal business teams across functions as well as the client at all levels, including senior leadership team to drive analytic strategy and roadmap + Influence SYF and client partners to implement profitable marketing and customer strategies rooted in analytics + Develop business case presentations and action plans to support marketing and customer strategy, including targeting recommendations, test design, product opportunities and cost/benefit analysis to review with client and SYF business teams + Actively participate in and present at business and client leadership meetings representing team and analytics organization + Lead and host analytic forums with client teams and internal business partners + Lead team to deliver analytics to support marketing campaigns + Lead team to produce campaign analytics to track results of marketing campaigns deployed + Enhance test and learn culture through ongoing assessment of marketing programs/campaigns + Develop campaign analyses for new program launches, card reissues, PLCC to Dual Card upgrades, acquisition, lifecycle and retention initiatives to understand results, develop insights and refine strategies + Work with marketing team to drive portfolio growth including targeting recommendations, use of response models, test design, and cost/benefit analysis + Responsible for successful development, implementation and business success of strategic analytic capabilities and solutions developed leveraging two-way data share with JCP client + Develop strategic roadmap on analytic capabilities leveraging Synchrony and partner data to drive profitable growth for the credit portfolio and/or client business + Design analytic capabilities and solutions to address business needs and opportunities + Lead development of analytic capabilities and solutions; Potential to partner with other JCP analytics team members and CoE resource for development. + Actively manage list of data share analytic projects from end to end, including weekly update to all relevant stakeholders on status, issues, solutions, timeline and deliverables + Ensure successful implementation of data share use cases both at SYF and with client as well as capturing of measured results for all use cases + Ability to assess internal and/or client data for business applications and provide recommendation for data enhancement + Manage, coach and develop a team of analytics professionals to support the JCP portfolio and Synchrony analytics + Formulate strategy and action plan to recruit, retain and develop analytic talent + Coach and develop analytic professional through training and hands on experiences + Prioritize workflow across teams to ensure highest-quality execution and delivery of analytic products and solutions + Lead analytic team to deliver complex projects from beginning to end, including ideation, data mining, strategy formulation, and presentation of results and recommendations + Actively recruit and retain team members + Partner with Analytics CoE teams to develop and/or implement centralized analytic capabilities and/or best practices + Partner with CoE teams to develop and apply advanced analytics and models to optimize business outcomes + Partner with Digital and Journey Analytics teams to develop and implement analytic solutions to improve customer experience across different channels + Provide business requirements to capability development representing client and business + Is responsible for test and adoption of strategic analytic capabilities for JCP, e.g. Data Share, Digital capability measurement/optimization, product decision optimization, Field Sales analytics + Develop and execute vision for next generation of segmentation and modeling to drive profitable portfolio growth + Capture and communicate incremental value of analytic capabilities for all relevant use cases + Partner with different functions to optimize portfolio growth and profitability, e.g. Marketing, Finance, Credit, Business Development, Strategy, Operations + Drive client engagement in credit program by developing client-specific tools and/or leveraging central analytics toolkit, like retail share of wallet, un-captured sales, and value of credit + Leverage in-store and world spend data to understand cardholder propensity for profitable sales and refine recommendations accordingly + Create 'test and learn' culture through ongoing learning agenda, designs of experiments, and assessment of product and targeting strategies + Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned to support JCP portfolio and/or analytics organization **Qualifications/Requirements:** + Bachelor's degree, or in lieu of a Bachelor's degree a, high school diploma and 10+ years of work experience establishing and managing marketing analytics in the financial services, credit card and/or payments industry + 7+ years of experience in leading analytics to support Credit portfolios across Marketing, Finance, Field Sales and/or Credit decisions + 7+ years developing and implementing business and advanced analytics and decision optimization capabilities to support business + 4+ years of analytic leadership/managerial experience; 2+ years of experience managing remotely located teams + 4+ years of experience managing large scale analytic projects spanning research, development and implementation + 5+ years of client facing experience, including influencing business decisions with senior level leaders (internal and client) + 5+ years of experience utilizing SAS, SQL and/or Python + 3+ experience in development predictive models and/or customer segmentation for targeting and optimization of business decisions + Must be willing to travel up to 15% of the time + **Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required** **Desired Characteristics:** + Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or another quantitative field + Extensive marketing analytics experience, including digital marketing + Strong track record in serving as strategic partner with internal business and client partners leveraging analytics + Advanced degree in a quantitative field or MBA with Systems and Marketing specialization strongly preferred + Ability to develop executable strategies and analytic roadmap, articulate a clear vision, and deliver results + Ability to ideate, design and lead development of analytic capabilities and solutions + Strong project management skills and own the management of analytic projects from end to end + Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; Ability to present to audience at all levels and to lead/host analytic forums. + Ability to influence business strategies and decisions based on analytic insight + Ability to partner effectively with a broad range of audiences including senior business leaders, senior analytics leaders, and highly technical talent + Strong relationship management skills; Demonstrated track record in building relationships and influencing decisions with different types of stakeholders. + Demonstrated ability to consistently innovate and generate creative analytic solutions + Ability to build and lead high performance teams; Extensive experience in coaching/mentoring team members. + Proficiency in SQL; Experience with open-source tools such as Python and R a plus + Experience with modeling/forecasting, and strong understanding of targeting and segmentation + Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and/or Birst + Experience using external data sources to drive profitable growth for clients + Solid understanding of credit card industry financial P&L drivers and key sensitivities, with business performance reporting experience + Ability to synthesize/analyze complex and diverse information and to develop and recommend strategies and communicate them clearly + CoBrand Credit Card experience preferred + Demonstrated ability to manage complexity/ambiguity and multiple initiatives + Advanced skills using Excel and PowerPoint with expertise in data visualization and story telling **Grade/Level: 14** The salary range for this position is **170,000.00 - 290,000.00** USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance. Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
