About the RoleAs a Visual Space Planner, you’ll play a key role in shaping how customers experience products across hundreds of stores. You’ll combine analytical insights, customer behavior patterns, and layout strategy to build impactful, data‑driven assortments and visual plans.
Working in a collaborative corporate environment, you’ll support category reviews, optimize assortments, and help create visually intuitive product flows that improve customer engagement and sales performance.
What You’ll DoAssortment & Space Planning StrategySupport the full line review process for assigned categories to develop strategic, customer‑focused assortments.Prepare and manage key milestones, ensuring timelines and deliverables stay on track.Develop localization and clustering strategies to tailor product offerings by region and customer group.Visual & Spatial Layout OptimizationBuild and maintain a Stocking Matrix that aligns inventory levels with customer demand and visual presentation standards.Identify white space opportunities to highlight gaps in product offerings and inspire new merchandising ideas.Create customer decision trees to map how shoppers browse categories, improving product flow and visual clarity.Cross‑Functional CollaborationPartner with merchandising, finance, supply chain, pricing, and store operations to align on category strategy.Recommend visual and assortment optimizations that improve customer experience and strengthen category performance.Support digital and in‑store alignment by identifying opportunities that drive omni‑channel growth.Continuous Improvement & InsightsUtilize assortment planning tools to deliver clear, actionable insights.Analyze customer landscape and competitive positioning to ensure offerings remain relevant and visually differentiated.Propose process improvements to strengthen future planning cycles and enhance product presentation strategies.What You BringMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Statistics, Finance, Design, or related fieldor equivalent experience3+ years’ experience in merchandising, assortment planning, visual planning, store planning, or related functions3+ years’ experience collaborating cross‑functionally in a retail environmentExperience working with or supporting large retail organizations1+ year experience in assortment or merchandising planning, including visual or spatial layout work1+ year of experience with clustering or tailoring assortments by region or customer segmentProficiency with assortment planning software (SAS, JDA, Oracle, or similar tools)Preferred SkillsStrong analytical and visual‑thinking abilitiesComfort building insights from customer behavior and sales dataAbility to manage complex timelines and multiple prioritiesStrong communication and collaboration skillsA passion for improving the customer experience through smart, intuitive product presentationJob Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Mooresville, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $30.00/hr.
