Major Responsibilities:

Partner with the Chief Philanthropy Officer to design and execute a systemwide philanthropy strategy aligned with Advocate Health’s enterprise goals and community health priorities. 
• Develop frameworks and initiatives that foster collaboration, innovation, and measurable impact across regional foundations and affiliates. 
• Lead strategic planning processes for philanthropy that identify growth opportunities, define shared priorities, and track outcomes. 
• Serve as a thought partner and advisor to the Office of Philanthropy leadership team, ensuring initiatives are data-informed, mission-driven, and future-focused. 

• Oversee the governance model for philanthropy across Advocate Health’s regional foundations, ensuring consistent standards, accountability, and legal compliance. 
• Partner with the General Counsel and regional boards to strengthen bylaws, policy alignment, and fiduciary oversight. 
• Develop and lead board education and engagement programs focused on philanthropy’s role in advancing the mission and values of Advocate Health. 
• Serve as a resource and advisor to foundation CEOs and boards on governance best practices, policy interpretation, and compliance matters. 

• Build trusted relationships with regional foundation presidents, system executives, and mission leaders to foster a cohesive culture of philanthropy. 
• Work closely with Communications, Marketing, and Mission Integration teams to align philanthropy storytelling with Advocate Health’s values and brand. 
• Represent the philanthropy enterprise in system leadership councils and cross-functional initiatives. 
• Partner with the Learning & Development team to design leadership development programs for philanthropy staff across the system. 

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

None Required.

Education Required:

Bachelor's Degree.

Experience Required:

At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in large, complex nonprofit or health system philanthropy. 
  - Proven success leading governance, policy, or strategy in multi-foundation or federated fundraising structures. 
  - Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, performance measurement, and organizational alignment. 
 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Deep understanding of philanthropy governance, nonprofit law, and enterprise-level fundraising strategy. 
  - Strong analytical, organizational, and facilitation skills. 
  - Exceptional relationship builder with board members, executives, and regional partners. 
  - Proven ability to lead through influence in a matrixed organization.
