Overview of Responsibilities
Recommends approach to IT engineering strategy, architecture, and execution across enterprise systems, infrastructure, and applications in alignment with the major product portfolio roadmaps and the IT enterprise strategy in partnership with CTO.Drives modernization engineering practices, including cloud first adoption, AI & automation-driven, across the organization.Ensure high availability, performance, and security of IT systems that power critical business operations through establishing robust enterprise architecture and engineering design priniciplesOversee all technical design, development, and deployment of enterprise applications, integration, platform development, and support.Establish and lead the technical services supporting an AI Center of Enablement—encompassing enterprise‑wide AI governance, risk management, model lifecycle standards, and responsible‑use frameworks—to ensure scalable, secure, and strategically aligned AI capabilities that advance the company’s business objectives.Lead, influence, and own the engineering delivery capabilities for an assigned portfolio of systems (e.g., Retail, Merch & Supply Chain, MarTech, etc.) covering custom application development, data design, and integration services.Partner closely with peer portfolio and platform engineering and shared infrastructure and operation teams at each stage of the project lifecycle starting with the upfront planning and design phases through the transition to support.Responsible for creating a high-performing workforce through recruiting, developing, and retaining top engineering talent; fostering a culture of innovation, ownership, and accountability to accomplish business results.Possess the ability to design and lead fully automated CI/CD pipelines—integrating tools, orchestrating workflows, and enforcing engineering best practices—to ensure rapid, reliable, and scalable software delivery.Provide coaching and leadership development opportunities to strengthen future talent pipelines.Provide strategic leadership in defining, institutionalizing, and advancing Artificial Intelligence Engineering best practices, including the establishment of an AI Center of Enablement supported by rigorous technical governance and coordinated risk management in partnership with IT SecOps, Risk, and Legal.Develop KPIs and performance metrics to measure engineering efficiency, quality, and value delivery.Leverage AI methodologies and tools to modernize and optimize engineering operations and the software development lifecycle (SDLC), driving greater efficiency, increased capacity, enhanced delivery performance, and improved product quality.Define, lead, build and oversee the enterprise-wide Quality Engineering function to ensure consistent standards, practices, automation, and outcomes.Assume comprehensive responsibility for building, leading, and supporting all engineering teams and external partners required across the full product portfolio, including Retail Stores, Marketing Technology, Merchandising, Supply Chain and Corporate Support Systems.Collaborate closely with IT peers to shape and govern the technology roadmap, proactively manage technical debt, and ensure that platforms, processes, and infrastructure scale appropriately to anticipate organizational growth and capability requirements.Ensure strict compliance with cybersecurity, data privacy, and regulatory requirements while advocating for these practices to be incorporated into the upfront requirements and design.Maintain governance standards for architecture, development, and operations.
Qualifications

The Vice President of IT Engineering is a senior technology executive responsible for leading and cascading the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise-wide IT engineering strategy, execution, and innovation across the organization. This role oversees engineering teams that build and maintain critical applications, infrastructure, and integrations to support business operations, scalability, and innovation. The VP will partner with the CTO, product leaders, and business sponsors to champion and ensure IT engineering initiatives align with strategic priorities, operational efficiency, and security standards.
