Vice President / Executive Director – M&A Investment Banking

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President or Executive Director to join our dynamic M&A Investment Banking team in Sydney. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to high-profile transactions, drive origination and execution, and play a key role in the growth of a leading financial institution. As part of a large, collaborative team, you will be involved in executing transactions and frequent client interactions, representing the firm in the Australian market and helping to expand our M&A franchise. The role offers a clear path to senior leadership, with significant responsibility for both origination and execution of transactions across all sectors. 

Key Responsibilities

Develop and deliver strategic content for client meetings focused on M&A transactions. Drive origination and execution of M&A transactions, working closely with senior stakeholders and client management teams. Lead, guide, and review detailed valuation analyses, including DCF, trading comparables, transaction comparables, and LBO analyses. Oversee combination and other financial analyses in the context of M&A transactions and pitch situations. Demonstrate strong commercial judgement in evaluating opportunities and risks. Build and maintain relationships with senior professionals, clients, and key stakeholders across the business. Provide leadership, mentorship, and supervision to Associates and Analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Participate in graduate recruiting and talent development initiatives. Identify new business opportunities and help shape the future of ourInvestment Banking business in Sydney.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

Minimum 8 years’ experience in a front office investment banking role, with a focus on M&A. Well-rounded academic background from a top-tier educational institution. Strong financial modelling and analytical skills. Deep understanding of the transaction cycle and execution process. Proven ability to work independently, self-directed, and highly motivated. Impeccable communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with senior stakeholders and clients. Demonstrated commercial judgement and strategic thinking. Track record of driving origination and successful execution of transactions. Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
