Vice President, Strategic Government PartnershipsRole OverviewMastercard is seeking an accomplished and visionary executive to lead Strategic Government Partnerships within the Public Sector pillar of Mastercard Strategic Growth (MSG). As Vice President, you will shape and drive the Public Sector partnership agenda across Asia Pacific, expanding Mastercard’s strategic relevance with governments and public institutions, and unlocking long term regional growth through policy aligned, market shaping initiatives.
This role has enterprise wide visibility and is central to MSG’s mandate to accelerate digital transformation, amplify Mastercard’s public sector influence, and strengthen our leadership position across priority corridors—especially the India–ASEAN region.
The VP will set the strategic direction, lead multi market teams, cultivate senior government relationships, and pursue high value opportunities that position Mastercard as a partner of choice for national digital economy, financial inclusion, and cross border connectivity ambitions.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Public Sector Influence
•\tDefine and execute Mastercard’s government partnership strategy for Asia Pacific, directly contributing to MSG’s global Public Sector roadmap.
•\tPosition Mastercard as a trusted strategic partner to ministers, regulators, central banks, and regional institutions.
•\tAdvance Mastercard’s policy influence through thought leadership, whitepapers, and participation in high level dialogues, regional forums, and multilateral platforms.
2. Regional Program Ownership
•\tArchitect and oversee a multi year, multi market portfolio of digital economy programs across the India–ASEAN corridor and broader Asia Pacific region.
•\tGuide the development of national level frameworks and cross border collaboration models for:
o\tTravel & Tourism – enabling frictionless digital travel experiences.
o\tTrade & Commerce – strengthening digital trade and interoperability.
o\tPolicy & Regulatory Alignment – promoting harmonized standards and digital public goods that advance inclusive, secure digital growth.
•\tEnsure programs are scalable, measurable, and aligned with Mastercard’s enterprise, product, and regional priorities.
3. Executive Level Partnership Building
•\tBuild and maintain senior level relationships with government ministries, economic agencies, multilateral organizations, and policy bodies.
•\tForge strategic coalitions across markets and institutions to accelerate digital transformation and advance shared regional priorities.
•\tRepresent Mastercard at high stakes meetings, senior government delegations, leadership roundtables, and cross border working groups.
4. Team & Stakeholder Leadership
•\tLead and mentor a regional team responsible for government partnerships, program delivery, and policy engagement across multiple markets.
•\tDrive tight collaboration with Product, Advisors, Market Development, Communications, Legal, Regulatory, and Public Policy teams to deliver cohesive and high impact outcomes.
•\tChampion MSG’s operating model by embedding cross functional integration and best practice Public Sector frameworks into APAC engagements.
5. Business Growth & Commercial Outcomes
•\tIdentify new Public Sector partnership opportunities that unlock revenue growth, strengthen Mastercard’s market position, and expand digital economy participation.
•\tPartner with regional Presidents and Country Managers to shape national priorities and integrate Public Sector strategy into broader market plans.
•\tOversee pipeline development, executive sponsorship, and governance for high value government initiatives.

All About You
•\t15–18+ years of experience in public sector leadership, government partnerships, economic policy, or multi country digital transformation.
•\tDeep experience engaging senior government leaders, shaping national agendas, and influencing policy direction.
•\tStrong strategic thinking, with a track record of designing and delivering large scale digital or economic transformation programs.
•\tExceptional executive presence, communication, and relationship building skills.
•\tDemonstrated ability to lead high performing, cross market teams and drive impact in complex, matrixed environments.
•\tStrong understanding of financial technology, digital economy frameworks, cross border commerce, and regulatory landscapes across Asia Pacific.
•\tExperience in multi market program governance, coalition building, and partnership ecosystem orchestration.
•\tMaster’s degree in Public Policy, Economics, Business, International Affairs, or related field preferred.
