As Value Chain Designer at Caterpillar, you will ensure linkage between product value stream teams and end-to-end value chains, including process planning and execution to meet customer expectations.
Job Description
Major Role: To design the optimized Product Supply Network in collaboration with the Product Group and other necessary process partners through the Total Cost of Supply process. A major focus will be on Supplier Resiliency, designing strategies for Caterpillar’s suppliers, transportation, sourcing, and design. Additionally, propose alternative sourcing options developed collaboratively between the supplier, category buyer and engineering. The goal is to reduce assurance of supply risk by building resiliency and resistance to risk into all components of supply.
Basic Qualifications:
+ 3 years of Value Stream / Supply Chain / Distribution / Purchasing / Operations experience
+ Excellent communication and data visualization skills.
+ Understanding of engineering & manufacturing bills of material (EBOM / MBOM)
+ Basic financial costing analysis
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
+ APICS CSCP National Certification is not essential but would be highly regarded.
+ This role demonstrates advanced skills and expertise on value stream modeling and design
The successful candidate incumbent will possess:
+ Ability to understand and translate business and process conditions into feasible value stream models
+ Ability to transform large data sets into meaningful and accurate model inputs, specifically EBOMs and MBOMs, Business Financial Models, Internal and External Operations and Manufacturing Processes, Inbound and Outbound Logistics, and Aftermarket data
+ Ability to translate models and scenarios into well-developed business case proposals and OIA projects.
+ Understanding ERP systems’ lead time elements (supply chain, manufacturing and marketing)
+ Understanding product cost rollups and partial value stream costs
+ Ability to work with cross functional teams globally and gather data for model building.
+ Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills throughout the Cat network, such as global facilities, transportation organizations, marketing, accounting, etc.
