Validation Engineer
Job Title: Validation EngineerJob Description

The Validation Engineer will be responsible for conducting system and vehicle level design verification (DV) and production validation (PV) tests to confirm achievement of technical requirements within established program timelines. This role involves creating tools and processes for traceability of DFMEA to DVP&R to final reports. The position is hands-on and based on-site at our Livermore, CA plant or Loveland, CO Engineering center.

ResponsibilitiesUtilize program targets, system requirements, and various control documents to develop and release comprehensive DV/PV plans, reports, and recommendations.Create and execute test plans for associated vehicle systems and the entire vehicle. Report results, document non-conformances, and collaborate with related design, systems, and controls engineers to identify root causes of failures and recommend improved specifications and opportunities for refinement.Design and configure test methods, scripts, and/or simulations to develop and validate system capabilities prior to vehicle integration.Work closely with the Engineering teams to develop and deploy instrumentation and data acquisition strategies, data analysis methodologies, and best practices for effective and timely testing activities.Coordinate and document requirements, design verification, and validation with component/subsystem/system suppliers or external testing resources/facilities to support the overall program validation plan.Gather and refine complex data sets into usable information and reports.Support the maintenance and calibration of test equipment and instrumentation.Support the development and deployment of engineering standards.Support the development and management of requirements along with the associated design verification (DV) and production validation (PV) plans, including traceability between requirements, test results, and test reports.Essential SkillsStrong knowledge of vehicle systems and diagnostic/CAN tools.Experience with Vector tools, sensors/instrumentation, thermocouples, and strain gauges.Analytical thinking and ability to work across disciplines.Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering.1 to 5 years of experience within the Engineering industry.Experience in automotive and/or heavy-duty vehicle testing/validation.Additional Skills & QualificationsPreferred background in trucks, buses, or commercial vehicles.Experience working with internal and external customers, engineering service suppliers, and supervising third-party test facilities.Knowledge of FMVSS, ADA, APTA Bus Procurement Guidelines, SAE HD vehicle standards, NFPA.Hands-on experience with troubleshooting, product assembly, prototyping, testing, and validation activities (on-site and at remote locations).Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with team members, customers, and suppliers.Familiarity with testing processes, including creating and executing test plans on vehicles supporting program timelines.Good verbal and written communication skills.Good organizational skills and attention to detail.Work Environment

The role requires the ability to lift 25 lbs and involves regular sitting, standing, and walking, with occasional kneeling or squatting. Limited travel is required. The typical start time is between 6:30 – 7:30 AM, which is negotiable.

This is a Contract position based out of Livermore, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
