The Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State (OSS) is seeking to hire UX/UI & Accessibility Developer to support user interface, user experience, and accessibility development to expand centralized UX/IT development capacity and ensure digital products consistently meet usability and accessibility expectations
This position serves as a UI/UX technical programmer and client-side software developer, designing, developing, and enhancing multi-tier applications and web experiences with a focus on UI/UX implementation and driving adherence of accessibility standards and polices within OSS.
This position also directly supports compliance with the U.S. Department of Justice’s updated ADA Title II requirements for state and local government web content and mobile applications, including alignment with WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
**Minimum Qualifications**
To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experience sufficient for comparison against the minimum qualifications and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.
Four (4) years of professional experience in UX/UI design and front-end application development, including implementation of responsive, mobile-first user interfaces using clean, maintainable, and reusable code.
+ Strong skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks (e.g. Angular, React).
+ Experience with tools like Figma or Sketch.
+ Experience with accessibility guidelines and best practices.
+ Knowledge of and experience with user research, wireframing, and user flow principles.
+ Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and processes.
+ Strong soft skills including: active-listening, empathy, problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills.
A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field may substitute for 18 months of experience; Or a related Bachelor’s degree may substitute for 1 year of experience; or a related Associate’s degree may substitute for 6 months of experience.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Experience working with accessibility testing tools.
+ Experience with conducting and analyzing user feedback.
+ Experience with Bootstrap, SASS, LESS
+ Experience utilizing a design system.
