Utility Worker
**Job Title: Utility Worker** **Job Description** The Utility Worker performs a variety of tasks in support of the department, including cleaning and performing basic janitorial duties, assisting in maintaining all areas of the department in a sanitary condition, ensuring the work area is kept neat, receiving and storing departmental supplies and food, and washing dishes, pots, and pans. **Responsibilities** + Perform janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping, cleaning, and vacuuming floors. + Wash dishes by hand or place them in a dishwashing machine and wash pots. + Clean work tables, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks. + Remove trash and garbage to designated areas. + Transfer supplies and equipment within and between storage and work areas such as pantry and dish room. + Use specific chemicals to clean equipment, ensuring sanitary standards are met. + Polish silver. **Essential Skills** + Experience in janitorial duties. + Proficiency in dishwashing and using dishwashing machines. + Ability to sweep, mop, and vacuum floors efficiently. + Skill in sanitizing and cleaning equipment using specific chemicals. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience in food service or environmental services (EVS) is advantageous. **Why Work Here?** Join a contract-to-hire position with the opportunity to be hired permanently by a major DC hospital.
