We are seeking dedicated Utility Field Specialists to join the Water Distribution Division. This role involves maintaining, repairing, and installing various components of the city's water system, including pipes, hydrants, valves, and meters. The position operates on a 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM shift, with occasional weekend work.
ResponsibilitiesFix water line breaks and leaks.Install and repair fire hydrants, water meters, valves, water service lines, and main lines.Utilize tools such as shovels, wrenches, saws, jackhammers, and pumps.Operate heavy equipment including backhoes, dump trucks, excavators, and crane trucks.Read maps and diagrams to locate underground pipes.Follow safety procedures and work around hazards.Essential SkillsMaintenance and repair skills.Proficiency in using power tools.Ability to read maps and diagrams.Knowledge of installation processes.Understanding of construction and wastewater treatment.Additional Skills & QualificationsDiploma in a relevant field.1 year of experience with water pipelines, plumbing, utilities, or related fields.Mechanical inclination.Ability to work outdoors and lift up to 50 lbs.Experience with hand tools and basic equipment.2–5 years of experience working with water systems, plumbing, or pipefitting.Experience operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, dump trucks, and crane trucks.Experience inspecting and maintaining equipment.Experience working on or around utility lines.Work EnvironmentThe work environment is outdoors, exposing employees to various elements. The role requires physical strength and the ability to handle heavy equipment and tools.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.77 - $36.28/hr.
