Utility Operator Pay Range: $31.25 – $33.25 per hour **This opportunity allows you to obtain a 2B license!** Shift: 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM–7:00 PM / 7:00 PM–7:00 AM on a 2-2-3 schedule, rotating between days and nights each week The Utility Operator is responsible for supporting plant operations by working as part of a team to safely achieve high levels of quality, efficiency, and performance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Perform water testing and maintain accurate logs and records Assist with various operational tasks throughout the plant Identify issues, participate in problem-solving, and recommend process improvements Support Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities, including communicating with the QA/QC laboratory, sampling and testing process streams, interpreting results, and taking corrective action as required Participate in plant maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance, assisting maintenance technicians with repairs, and troubleshooting maintenance-related issues Follow all health, safety, and environmental programs and procedures Work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule Load ethanol and DDG (dried distillers grain) into trucks and rail cars, including weighing, sampling, and testing as required Move rail cars on site to support shipping and receiving operations Assist operations with product transfer alignments, including piping, pumps, and associated valves Operate front-end loaders, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment (experience preferred) Maintain plant cleanliness in accordance with established programs and procedures Be available for scheduled or call-in overtime as required Perform all work in accordance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and operating procedures Complete assigned tasks using established checklists and standard operating procedures Perform other duties as assigned Work safely at all times Position Requirements & Work Environment While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, dust, high noise levels, chemicals, and varying indoor and outdoor weather conditions. Physical and environmental requirements include: Ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing, stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, twisting, bending, kneeling, crawling, and grasping Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to lift up to 60 pounds Ability to work in confined spaces and climb multiple flights of stairs and ladders up to 150 feet Willingness to work in extreme temperatures ranging from approximately -20°F to +100°F Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toe boots, and hearing protection Willingness to work overtime and rotating 12-hour shifts Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and work independently Strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance Basic computer skills or the ability to learn Effective verbal and written communication skills Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities Adaptable and open-minded, with a team-focused mindset and the ability to resolve issues respectfully Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Experience in a dry-mill ethanol plant preferred, but not required Valid driver’s license required Must be at least 18 years of age Must be authorized to work in the United States Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen Special Boiler License or higher preferred
