Utilities Metering Analyst Print (https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/gardencityks/jobs/newprint/5219199) Apply  Utilities Metering Analyst Salary $23.45 - $28.60 Hourly Location Garden City, KS Job Type Full-Time Job Number 00611 Department Public Utilities Division Electric Opening Date 01/30/2026 Closing Date 2/13/2026 11:59 PM Central + Description + Benefits Description This position is responsible for providing administrative support for the Public Utilities Department including typing, filing, word processing and database records, maintenance and customer relations under the general supervision of the Director of Electrical Operations Provides analytical management assistance by planning, coordinating and special projects or related work as directed. Examples of Duties + Receives incoming telephone calls and gives information or directs inquiry to appropriate source. Answers and relays messages on departmental two-way radio. + Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Mapcon, or other similar programs to prepare official correspondence, memorandums, and reports. + Records and maintains computer data files such as but not limited to, trouble calls, electric change orders, street-light repair, and security light contracts. + Responsible for Electric Department requisitions and travel arrangements. + Invoice developers, electricians, contractors, and customers as required. + Track and maintain Fixed Assets. + Calendars for the Utility Service Center training/conference rooms. + Data gathering for monthly reports including, substations, special billing reports, WECI billing data entry, renewable energy review, special rate customer billing review, performance measures, Buffalo Dunes Solar savings, yearly EIA reports, yearly SSA accounts, and coincident loading analysis. Monthly outage logs gathered are entered into PowerTRX platform. + Monitors Sensus Analytics (meter data management software) for meter errors and/or power outages. Leak notifications and meter change outs. + Maintain documents and process rebates for the Water Sense Rebate and backup prevention program. + Assists in document management and retention for the Utilities Service Center. Typical Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Well-developed skills in typing, filing, word processing and data entry. Knowledge of modern office practices and equipment. Ability to manage time well, be highly organized and plan work assignments effectively to maintain smooth flow of record keeping and information processing. Ability to understand verbal and written instructions. Ability to communicate with City employees and the general public. Education, Certification and Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Two years with a business or vocational secretarial training certificate. Three years of verifiable secretarial experience with a medium sized company or private employer. Computer literate. Bilingual skills preferred. Valid Driver’s License required. Must obtain a Kansas Driver’s License within 90 days of establishing residency. Supplemental Information Environment: Majority of work is performed indoors in a controlled environment (Office). Outdoor work is subject to various weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow, hail, sleet, gusting winds, dry and humid conditions. Surfaces: (Indoors) carpet, tile; (Outdoors) concrete, asphalt, dirt, manholes, construction sites, sand, clay, and gravel. Physical Characteristics: Ability to lift up to 20 lbs., sit, stand, walk, lift, push, pull, type, kneel, bend, see, hear and drive.
