The Opportunity:
We are seeking a User Interface (UI) Architect to lead front-end architecture and design for mission-critical software solutions supporting U.S. government and military customers.
The ideal candidate will define enterprise UI standards, guide design system development, and deliver secure, high-performance interfaces that enhance operational awareness and decision support for defense applications. This senior-level architect will be responsible for enterprise-wide UI architectural strategy. Ensure consistent, secure, and high-performance user interfaces across mission-critical defense programs.
Utilize SAFe Agile practices to deliver high-quality UI frameworks.Enhance user efficiency, reduce training time, and improve decision accuracy in operational systems.Contribute directly to the success of modernization and cloud migration initiatives.Provide technical and administrative leadership for cross-functional teams, mentorship, and direction to cross-functional teams.Operate independently under minimal supervision, influencing product and technology decisions at the organizational level.Provide mentorship, training, and technical guidance for UI developers and designers to adhere to design concepts and user standards.Drive a culture of engineering excellence, collaboration, and accountability.Participate in talent evaluation and supports workforce development initiatives.Responsibilities:
Define and maintain enterprise-level UI architecture frameworks and design standards across multiple programs.Collaborate with UX, product, and systems engineering teams to translate mission requirements into intuitive user experiences.Architect and implement secure, performant, and modular front-end solutions that align with DoD cybersecurity and accessibility requirements (Section 508).Develop and manage design systems, reusable component libraries, and UI pattern repositories for consistent product delivery.Conduct front-end design reviews, provide technical oversight, and ensure adherence to development best practices.Integrate with back-end APIs and data services to support real-time visualization and situational awareness applications.Make recommendations and prepare milestone status reports and deliveries/presentations of design concepts/integration to colleagues, subordinates and end-user representatives.Mentor front-end developers and promote modern engineering practices across teams.Support compliance with DISA STIG standards.Communicates architectural direction to executives, government stakeholders, and engineering teams.Advocate for user-centered design principles and technology modernization.Translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, or related/relevant experience in related field (Master’s preferred).U.S. Citizenship required with ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance.8+ years of experience in UI/front-end development; 2+ years in an architectural or lead technical role.Expertise in Figma, Axure, JAWS and ANDI.Proficiency with modern frameworks such as Miro, React, Angular, NVDA or VueExperience designing enterprise web applications within secure or classified network environments.Strong understanding of web accessibility, performance optimization, and cross-browser compatibility.Desired:
Experience supporting DoD, intelligence, or federal software environments.Working knowledge of DevSecOps pipelines, CI/CD, and cloud platforms (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government).Familiarity with DISA STIGs, RMF, and DoD cybersecurity compliance frameworks.Experience with data visualization (D3.js, Mapbox, CesiumJS) and real-time UI frameworks.Certifications such as AWS Certified Front-End Specialist, DHS Trusted Tester 508, DoD 8570 Baseline, or CompTIA Security+.Familiarity with SAFe Agile concepts and program management-_________________________________________________________________________

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:
