Job Summary:
As a UX Engineering Fellow within the Global Cabs team, you shape the experiences that power our equipment by architecting, building, and testing intuitive, high‑performance interfaces. This role is uniquely focused on the UX work that supports Global Cabs, ensuring the operator’s experience inside the cab is seamless, safe, and consistent across programs.
You’ll blend deep technical skill with human‑centered insight—collaborating closely with Global Cabs engineering, HMI, electrical, and design partners to define preferred user experiences, translate operator feedback into actionable direction, and drive alignment across platforms. You lead usability evaluations that surface real‑world cab needs, translate complex trade‑offs into clear recommendations, and advise on frameworks, tools, and patterns that elevate the Global Cabs design ecosystem.
Through compelling communication and strong cross‑functional influence, you champion user‑centered practices and help deliver accessible, scalable UI solutions that enhance operator confidence, efficiency, and safety across the Global Cabs portfolio.
What You Will Do:
Drive a thorough understanding of operator needs & desires for RI products through first-hand interactions / investigations and leverage of the global team (CD, etc.)Work with a cross-functional, global team to develop a consistent UX Strategy for corporate cab components, integrated solutions, and ergonomicsEngage with component and digital groups to integrate UX considerations into NTI/NPI and to drive awareness and alignment across the verticalsBuild business cases to articulate the end-to-end impacts of UX Improvement ProjectsPrioritize and manage a balanced portfolio of short and long-term projectsDevelop and facilitate processes for governing UX and consistency across the enterpriseLead efforts to secure funding for the development of preferred & consistent enterprise solutionsEducation requirement:
Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
What skills you will have:
Effective Communications: Demonstrate ability to clearly articulate complex design and technical concepts to diverse audiences, including engineers, designers, and executives. Experience presenting UX strategies, conducting workshops, and creating compelling narratives that influence decision-making. Communicate effectively with operators and field teams to understand usability challenges in heavy equipment applications.
Technical Excellence: Apply advanced UX engineering principles and best practices to deliver intuitive, accessible, and high-performing user interfaces. Experience with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), design systems, and usability testing to ensure seamless user experiences. Hands-on experience designing and validating interfaces for heavy equipment control systems and telematics applications.
Technology Advising: Provide expert guidance on emerging UX technologies, frameworks, and tools to optimize design and development workflows. Experience evaluating technology trade-offs, recommending scalable solutions, and aligning UX strategies with business objectives. Advise on integration of UX solutions into heavy equipment software platforms and operator-assist technologies.
Influencing Through Expertise: Leverage deep UX knowledge to shape product direction and gain buy-in from stakeholders across cross-functional teams. Experience mentoring peers, leading design reviews, and driving adoption of user-centered design principles throughout the organization. Influence design decisions for applications that enhance operator efficiency and safety in heavy machinery environments.
Additional Information:
This position requires the candidate to work onsite five days a week at the Mossville, IL or Tucson, AZ office.
Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

Summary Pay Range:
$159,120.00 - $238,680.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
