**Position Summary...**
The Senior Manager, Automation Engineering provides engineering leadership and strategic execution support for Walmart’s future generation of parcel automation and fulfillment capabilities. The individual in this role will drive scalable design standards, operational performance improvements, and disciplined deployment of automation solutions across fulfillment and distribution centers. The ideal candidate blends deep automation engineering expertise with strong cross-functional leadership to deliver measurable cost, labor, and throughput improvements at enterprise scale.
This is an onsite role based on our Home Office campus in Bentonville, Arkansas; we are not considering remote applicants, but a full relocation package is available.
**What you'll do...**
**Engineering Standards & Scalability**
+ Lead standardization of automation designs to reduce variability, accelerate deployment timelines, and enable enterprise scalability
+ Own engineering readiness, configuration control, and disciplined change management to ensure high-quality deployments
+ Translate post-deployment operational insights into updated engineering standards and design improvements
**Deployment & Cross-Functional Leadership**
+ Ensure readiness for large-scale deployments, including coordination with Design, Deployment, Transportation, PMO, and Operations partners
+ Support retrofit and expansion initiatives while maintaining operational stability during transitions
+ Facilitate structured feedback loops with field operations to continuously improve automation solutions
**Automation Performance & Optimization**
+ Drive cost, labor, and throughput optimization by analyzing parcel processing performance across fulfillment and distribution centers
+ Identify process, layout, and equipment improvements to improve productivity and cost-per-package outcomes
+ Leverage data and advanced analytics to assess performance variability and prioritize improvement opportunities
**Innovation & Industry Benchmarking**
+ Scale innovation pilots into production-ready automation solutions (e.g., scanning, material handling, flow optimization, packaging strategies)
+ Benchmark vendors and industry leaders to inform design, sourcing, and technology decisions
+ Evaluate emerging automation technologies and recommend adoption paths aligned with Walmart’s long-term strategy
**What You’ll Bring…**
+ Familiarity with parcel automation, material handling systems, or logistics technology preferred
+ Strong experience in automation engineering, supply chain, or large-scale fulfillment operations
+ Proven ability to drive performance improvements through data, engineering judgment, and cross-functional leadership
+ Experience standardizing designs and leading complex deployments across multiple sites
+ Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
+ Comfort operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with enterprise-level impact

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and 4 years’ experience in Engineering, supply chain, or a related area. Option 2: 6
years’ experience in Engineering, supply chain, or a related area.
