(USA) Senior Director, Data Science - Consumer Health Solutions
Position Summary...As Senior Director of Consumer Health Solutions, you will lead the development of novel health products and services at the intersection of consumer behavior, health, and data science. You will manage and grow a team of data scientists, product managers, researchers, and designers, with business, product, and tech leaders across Walmart, to deliver solutions which leverage machine learning and other technologies to activate customers for healthier living and create value across multiple business segments.

What you'll do...Partner with strategy and business unit teams in the concepting stages of solution incubationOversee the product discovery process to uncover insights for patients/consumers, care givers, and clinicians to optimize care, enable healthy behaviors, and improve health outcomesLead the lifecycle stages of solution incubation after concepting, from early-stage prototyping through multiple test-and-learn cycles to late-stage handoff for build, integration, and launch at scaleDevelop individual and population-level consumer health insight solutions as value-enhancing capabilities for multiple Walmart businesses, leveraging health data science and machine learningDevelop customer activation solutions which leverage internal assets and physical/digital customer touchpoints to enable healthy eating and other health-promoting behaviors and which enhance customer trust, loyalty, and product salesManage solution development to support and enable appropriate business casesDrive disciplined and transparent processes to enable efficient data science model development and validation in support of both product roadmap and novel hypothesis testing, and to communicate high level and detailed product specificationsApply suitable techniques for model testing and tuning, to assess accuracy, fit, validity, and robustnessImplement model monitoring and model life-cycle management practices.Contribute code documentation, maintain playbooks, and provide timely progress updatesEvaluate strengths and weaknesses of existing and new data sources (including consumer data and healthcare data) and develop an appropriate data science strategy to support insight generation from these data sourcesBuild, coach and mentor a team of data scientists and product managers to create a unified approach to data product development and foster a culture of successAct as an internal and external spokesperson for the initiativePresent complex data science concepts and principles in simple, concise, and clear business termsEnable cross-functional learning about product management and data science concepts and principles as applied to relevant use cases through a program of information sharing and education sessions (e.g. colloquia)Collaborate with strategy and business teams, global tech teams, product teams, ecosystem partners, and managed contract vendorsManage and develop top-tier talent, including recruitment, engagement, and well-being

Incubation: includes Walmart Everyday Health Signals (EHS), a health insights product, and Walmart's Nutrition Hub, which supports personalized healthy eating powered by EHSDigital Business Services: includes customer identity, digital engagement, and business analytics to support health and wellness lines of business

What you'll bring:

10+ combined years in data science and product leadership role, with a robust network across industry stakeholders5+ years in healthcare or health-related workSuperb communication and relationship skills, including the ability to work with and present to C-level executives and board members; proven ability to influence strategic decision makingDeep technical experience leading data science and product teams combining various forms of health and consumer data to uncover new insights in broad array of use cases including population health and chronic disease managementConsumer, and ideally consumer health product leadership experience, including user engagement for health-related behavior changeKnowledge of coding languages like SQL, Java, C++, Python and othersKnowledge of model fit testing, tuning, and validation techniques (for example, Chi square, ROC curve, root mean square error etc.)Knowledge of data visualization guidelines and best practices for complex data types; experience with data visualization tools (for example, Python, R libraries, GGplot, Matplotlib, Ploty, Tableau, PowerBI)In-depth experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to align health data science efforts with regulatory compliance, and business and clinical valueExperience with relevant data standards, terminologies and vocabularies used in retail and/or healthcare dataDemonstrated ability to manage full-time and contract teammates, both in-person and remoteStrong record of shipping product and meeting commitments with significant impact, on time and on budgetExperience directing budgets, and resources to achieve maximum valueStrong track record of delivering large, cross functional projectsContribution to external open source projects a plusSuccess in an entrepreneurial environment, ideally within a high growth technology companyExperience and passion for rapid prototyping and development in a fast-paced environmentMS or PhD in data science or equivalent

The annual salary range for this position is $208,000.00-$416,000.00
