Position Summary...Director, Strategic Initiatives – Fashion Sustainability – Embedding sustainability in supply chains and our business
Location: Bentonville, AR

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Strategic Initiatives - Sustainability - to join the Corporate Sustainability team at Walmart. As a key member of the leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy to leverage some of the largest supply chains in our Fashion business to create impact in the world. This role will include EPR oversight, and standardization of tools and processes to embed sustainability across all non-food Business Units. The Director will help lead the development of tools, through the tech team, to accelerate our work. This role demands a high level of executive presence, strategic thinking, and business acumen to drive Walmart's sustainability goals and maintain our position as an industry leader.

What you'll do...

Strategic Leadership: Lead the strategic development, planning and execution of our Fashion product value chain sustainability initiatives with clear action plans to support Walmart’s overarching sustainability goals. Monitor and assess external trends (innovation, economic shifts, regulatory, policy, etc.) changes impacting the business to guide decision-making.

Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal stakeholders, external partners,
and industry leaders to advance Walmart's Fashion sustainability objectives for Private
Brand and National Brand suppliers. Represent Walmart on key committees and with
NGOs to influence industry standards and best practices.

Innovative Solutions: Identify promising innovations for material, manufacturing, and
circularity, among others, to help Walmart create tangible impact and systemic change.

 Performance Tracking: Lead the work to automate and manage comprehensive tracking
tools to report progress and translate data into actionable insights for leadership. Lead
external reporting requirements of our results in the Fashion product value chain.

 Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence
senior leadership to enhance sustainability integration into business operations and
decision-making processes.

Primary categories supported: Fashion (Men’s, Women's, Kids, Shoes, Accessories,
etc.). However, you will be able to broadly support GM, Consumables, and other
businesses

Commodity Leadership: Cotton (other fibers under waste: Polyester and MMCF and
focus on textiles EPR)

Overall Textiles lead/sme for the business acceleration team – will also support Home
and Hardware (patio, etc.) in relation to textiles

Heavy involvement in the development of People strategy beyond 2025


What you’ll bring:

Experience in developing and implementing sustainability strategies within a large organization.

Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Proven ability to identify sustainability risks and opportunities and develop effective strategies to address them.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate sustainability initiatives and results to internal and external stakeholders.

Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to sustainability and fashion.

Strong Project management skills are important for this role.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...
