Upholstery Technician

Craft Precision Interiors for World-Class Aircraft 

Location: Savannah, GA | Pay Rate: $32.19/hour | Schedule: Full-Time, 1st Shift (5:45am – 4:15pm) 

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a premier aerospace manufacturer to hire a skilled Upholstery Technician who takes pride in craftsmanship, precision, and quality. In this role, you will design, fabricate, and install high-end aircraft interior components while supporting team leadership, mentoring peers, and ensuring the highest safety and quality standards. Your work will directly impact the comfort, aesthetics, and performance of industry-leading aircraft. 

 
 

Role Summary 

As an Upholstery Technician, you will work independently and collaboratively to fabricate and install interior upholstery and trim components for aircraft. You will interpret engineering drawings, execute complex upholstery and sewing tasks, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This role also supports leadership responsibilities, including mentoring junior technicians and assisting the Shop Lead with project coordination. 

 
 

Key Responsibilities 

Essential Functions 

Fabricate and install seat covers, curtains, and interior assemblies and subassemblies 

Sew, fabricate, and install covers for all aircraft interior panels while meeting safety, quality, and productivity standards 

Interpret material specifications, design data, and engineering drawings to ensure compliance with design requirements 

Use the Corridor material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign off completed work 

Cut and install advanced custom design carpets with complex and unique patterns 

Additional Functions 

Assume Lead responsibilities when required; oversee projects and coordinate task assignments 

Conduct and support safety audits and promote a strong safety culture 

Assist in maintaining shop equipment and associated Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) 

Champion Safety, 5S, housekeeping standards, and protection of aircraft interiors (PTP) 

Mentor and train less experienced technicians, monitoring work to ensure safety, quality, and productivity standards 

Partner with Leads and senior technicians to implement process improvements using Lean Six Sigma tools to reduce cost, cycle time, and labor hours 

Perform other duties as assigned 

 
 

Required Qualifications 

High School Diploma or GED 

Minimum of 4 years of upholstery experience, including: 

At least 2 years of aircraft upholstery experience, or 

6 years of commercial upholstery experience 

Advanced knowledge of upholstery and sewing processes and materials 

Advanced carpet knowledge, including installation of custom-designed carpets 

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications 

Working knowledge of inspection and process specifications and terminology 

Computer literacy and experience with digital tracking systems 

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English proficiently 

Physical ability to climb ladders and stairs, work in confined spaces, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift 

 
 

Preferred Qualifications 

Experience mentoring or training other upholstery technicians 

Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies 

Prior experience in a regulated aerospace manufacturing environment

Pay Details: $32.19 per hour
