Citizens is seeking a Strategy Associate to support the Unsecured Lending business within the Unsecured Lending Business Performance & Strategic Planning team.
This role partners directly with the Head of Strategic Planning & Business Performance and the Unsecured Lending leadership team to drive business prioritization, strategic planning, and performance management. The Strategy Associate will play a hands‑on role in shaping near‑term decisions and longer‑term strategy by providing structured analysis, executive‑ready insights, and clear strategic recommendations.
This is a high‑visibility role with regular interaction with senior leaders and broad exposure across Consumer, Risk, Finance, Analytics, Technology, and Enterprise Strategy teams. This position is well‑suited for high-performing individuals looking to deepen their strategic skillset, build subject matter expertise in a lending product line, directly contribute to the transformation of a strategic business, while expanding executive exposure.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Performance
Support quarterly and annual prioritization and strategic planning routines for the Unsecured Lending businessAssist in the development and maintenance of multi‑year strategic roadmaps aligned to business objectives and investment prioritiesDeliver and maintain a comprehensive view of business performance, translating financial and operational results into insights and actionsBusiness & Portfolio Strategy
Analyze market trends, customer behavior, and competitive dynamics to identify growth opportunities and optimize portfolio performancePartner with Unsecured Lending leadership to diagnose issues, evaluate options, and develop strategies that drive profitable growthConduct focused analyses across products, channels, customer segments, and pricing to inform decision‑makingExecutive Communication
Own the development and facilitation of executive‑level presentations, including monthly strategy and performance updatesSynthesize complex analysis into clear, concise materials for senior management and, as needed, the BoardStrategic Initiatives
Lead or support cross‑functional strategic initiatives spanning multiple functions or business unitsDrive structured problem‑solving on high‑priority, ambiguous topicsSupport ad‑hoc strategic projects as assignedEnterprise Collaboration
Work closely with Product, Credit Risk, Enterprise Strategy, and Finance partners as neededContribute to business line strategy efforts with a focus on driving outcomes through ideation, effective challenge, and data-driven insightsQualifications
Required Skills & Experience
2–5 years of relevant experience in strategy, management consulting, corporate development, analytics, fintech, or product rolesStrong PowerPoint and Excel skills with the ability to independently build executive‑ready materialsDemonstrated ability to apply structured thinking and quantitative analysis to complex business problemsStrong written and verbal communication skills with confidence engaging senior leadersAbility to manage multiple workstreams in a fast‑paced environmentSelf‑starter with intellectual curiosity, strong judgment, and a bias toward actionProven ability to collaborate and influence across functionsEducation
Bachelor’s Degree requiredHours and Work Schedule
Hours per Week: 40
Work Schedule - Monday-Friday - 4 days in office
