Job Description

The ITS-EPA IV Managed Application, Infrastructure, Networking, Enterprise, and Security Services (MAINES) – Task 2 Infrastructure group provides infrastructure support of EPA Unix, Windows, and VMware information systems on hardware located primarily in NC, DC, and Colorado, supplemental satellite data centers in multiple states, and tenants in Azure and AWS.  The Unix Systems Engineer will work as a technical contributor in Operations, Maintenance, Monitoring, Vulnerability Mitigation, Patching, and Documentation

 

Additional Task Responsibilities:

Work on a Unix team supporting 600+ Unix/Linux serversAssist in growing the Linux presence in AWSParticipate in 24x7 On-Call rotation and after hours support as required.Read, modify, write, and debug scripts (shell, perl, python, etc.)Install, configure, patch RHEL on a variety of physical and virtual platformsUtilize Splunk for Log ReviewPerform daily monitoring of servers and maintenance as neededAnalyze and develop technical documentationProvide direct support to customers and stakeholders, manage support requestsOther duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

5 Years Experience supporting RHEL/CentOS SystemsRed Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA6/7/8) CertificationIntermediate ability with Satellite Server and Ansible TowerProven Experience with Linux Hosting in AWSExperience in Vulnerability Mitigation / OS HardeningCreation and configuration of file systems (NFS/CIFS)Expert proficiency in Logical Volume ManagementSignificant Experience with an Enterprise Monitoring\Ticketing SystemDemonstrated analytic problem-solving abilityExcellent written and verbal communication skillsTime management and organizational aptitudeAbility to work independently

 

Additional Preferred qualifications but not required:

Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE6/7/8)Familiar with Oracle ODA Infrastructure (Nodes and VMs)Experience with TerraformTier 1 VMware AdministrationExperience with Oracle LinuxResource in a NOC/SOC environmentPrior Work on a Government Contract
