UK Insurance Vertical Client & Specialty Segment Leader (FTC)
AON
Aon UK Insurance Vertical Client & Specialty Segment Leader - Fixed Term Contract
Are you passionate about the Specialty Insurance market and excited by the opportunity to shape growth across multiple product lines and regions?
Do you enjoy both setting segment‑wide strategy and personally leading key client relationships as the main point of contact?
Aon is in the business of better decisions
At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world.
As an organisation, we are united through trust as one inclusive team, and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed.
What the day will look like
In this hybrid role, you will:
+ Lead growth for the Specialty Insurance segment as part of the Insurance Vertical; and
+ Act as Client Leader for a small number of designated Specialty insurer clients, serving as their primary point of contact into Aon.
Day‑to‑day, you will:
+ Own the non‑Reinsurance (including STG) revenue targets for the Specialty Insurance segment in your region, as set by the Global IV Lead.
+ Set and agree Specialty‑focused prospect targets jointly with regional solution line teams and build and maintain a clear Specialty growth strategy by solution line (e.g. Reinsurance, Commercial Risk, Human Capital),
+ Work with Specialty ACLs / ECLs and leaders to strengthen connectivity with Reinsurance and the broader Specialty network
+ Drive Aon United client planning for Specialty insurer clients, ensuring that standardised client plans (relationship maps, Specialty pipeline, action plans, etc.) are in place and actively used.
+ Peer review RFPs and pitch materials to ensure our positioning and value propositions are clearly Specialty‑relevant and aligned to insurer needs
+ Coordinate at least one Specialty‑focused Insurance Vertical client event in the region (e.g. a Client Advisory Board or specialist forum)
+ Feed Specialty‑specific client and event feedback into the community, Specialty leadership, marketing, and product innovation teams focused on insurance to refine Specialty propositions and inform future development.
Client Leadership
+ Serve as the primary Aon contact across all solution lines and regions for a defined group of Specialty insurer clients. Act in the role of Client Leader.
+ You will build and maintain deep, senior-level relationships across key buying centres for your assigned clients. Understand their Specialty strategies, portfolios, and challenges thoroughly.
+ Coordinate and lead client planning sessions within the Aon United framework for these clients, bringing together colleagues from Reinsurance, Commercial Risk, Human Capital and Specialty practices to deliver a coordinated Aon approach.
+ Represent Aon at client‑specific and market events for your allocated clients, positioning Aon’s Specialty expertise and thought leadership.
How this opportunity is different
This role offers a rare combination of segment leadership and hands‑on client leadership in the Specialty Insurance space. You will be able to build the overall Specialty growth agenda in your area, while staying close to the market and client decision‑making through direct client ownership.
In this opportunity, you will:
+ Build and champion a high‑performing Specialty Insurance Vertical team for your region, crafting clarity on which Specialty segments, clients and propositions to prioritise.
+ Influence both Specialty pipeline and proposition development, by combining your segment‑wide view with detailed insight gained from your direct client relationships.
+ Play a visible role in Specialty client events and industry forums, and also in one‑to‑one senior client engagements as a trusted Client Leader.
+ Use Aon United and Aon IQ training, tools, and content so you and your team confidently explain the outstanding value propositions and differentiators of Aon’s Specialty.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
+ Specialty Insurance expertise – strong understanding of Specialty Insurance markets (for example Lloyd’s and specialty carriers, niche lines and specialty products), business models and market dynamics, and how Aon’s Reinsurance and Commercial Risk services combined with Human Capital solutions can support them.
+ Client leadership capability – proven experience as the main client lead or executive contact for key accounts. Ideally, this is within Specialty or broader insurance. You should also have experience influencing C-suite and senior partners.
+ Stakeholder and team leadership across Specialty networks – proven track record to convene and align cross functional teams, particularly across Specialty practices, regional leaders and client facing teams.
+ Commercial and financial acumen – comfortable discussing performance, portfolio and risk profile of Specialty insurers, and using those insights to shape targeted growth actions and propositions.
+ Strong communication and influencing skills – able to engage confidently with senior collaborators, challenge constructively and drive consensus on priorities.
