Trauma Registry must provide timely data entry of all trauma patients admitted to or transferred. Must meet all requirements of the Ohio State Trauma Registry and the Northwest Ohio Regional Trauma Registry, facilitating reports
according to predetermined specifications. The Specialist must be familiar with interpretation of documentation in patient records and be familiar with ICD coding. This implies a strong background in medical terminology and in emergency patient documentation from the pre-hospital scene through the hospital course. The Specialist must develop strong relationships with patient care providers, physicians and community resources. The Specialist must be able to utilize data entry programs effectively and coordinate data
within various data systems.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED**
1. High School graduate. Associate’s Degree in data management or related area preferred.
2. Minimum two years experience in a healthcare setting with skill in using data handling software, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel,
Access, Power Point.
3. Strong medical terminology skills.
4. Experience in interpreting patient information in medical records, especially in an emergency patient care setting.
5. Knowledge and experience with current ICD coding.
6. Excellent communication skills.
7. Previous experience with a trauma registry desirable.
8. Requires a degree of organization of work and flexibility in performance of duties. Requires some initiative and creative ability.

+ Weekend, holiday and on-call rotation required per department policy
