Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator
**Job Overview** **Job Summary** The Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator (TPIC) is responsible for advancing trauma care quality through comprehensive performance improvement and patient safety initiatives. This role collaborates with Trauma Program leadership, multidisciplinary teams, and external agencies to ensure compliance with Minnesota Department of Health Trauma System verification standards and institutional quality goals. The TPIC serves as a clinical resource, manages PI processes, and supports education and outreach for excellence in trauma care. While this role currently requires full-time onsite presence, we are evaluating flexible work arrangements, including hybrid models, for future consideration based on business needs and individual performance **Core Responsibilities** **Performance Improvement & Patient Safety** + Facilitate and coordinate PI activities across all departments involved in trauma care. + Ensure that all trauma patients have some level of PI review + Conduct concurrent and retrospective chart reviews; identify care variances and system issues. + Assist in preparation of case summaries for morbidity and mortality conferences and multidisciplinary reviews. + Ensure loop closure for identified opportunities and maintain documentation of corrective actions. **Data Management & Benchmarking** + Collaborate with trauma registry staff for accurate data abstraction and validation. + Incorporate TQIP benchmarking and NTDB standards into PI analysis. + Generate reports for internal committees and MDH site visits. **Compliance & Verification** + Maintain readiness for state trauma designation. + Monitor adherence to institutional policies, regulatory standards, and best practices. **Education & Outreach** + Provide education to ED and inpatient staff on trauma protocols and PI processes. + Support community and system injury prevention outreach initiatives related to trauma care. **Program Development** + Participate in policy development, research projects, and quality improvement initiatives. **Qualifications** **Required:** + Bachelor’s degree in Nursing + 3–5 years of acute care experience (trauma, ED, ICU) + Registered Nurse in Minnesota + Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within 6 months of hire + Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement Course (TOPIC) Course completion required within 12 months from date of hire **Preferred:** + Master’s degree in healthcare or nursing + Previous organizational leadership experience + Experience in PI, program planning, and trauma verification processes + Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data reporting tools + Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) **Benefit Overview** Fairview offers a generous benefit package including but not limited to medical, dental, vision plans, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, PTO and Sick and Safe Time, tuition reimbursement, retirement, early access to earned wages, and more!
