Job Title: Traffic Engineer

Job Description

Join a dynamic team engaged in traffic, transportation, and parking planning projects. This role offers the chance to work closely with Project Managers, learning HCS and Synchro while designing traffic engineering plans. You will have the opportunity to occasionally attend public meetings with developers, public agencies, and zoning attorneys. Your work will include preparing traffic signal design plans for new and modified intersections, construction sequencing, pavement marking plans, signing plans, and traffic control plans.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Project Managers to learn and utilize HCS and Synchro software.Design traffic engineering plans with attention to detail and accuracy.Prepare comprehensive traffic signal design plans for new and modified intersections.Develop construction sequencing, pavement marking plans, signing plans, and traffic control plans.Attend public meetings with developers, public agencies, and zoning attorneys as needed.Engage in traffic studies, transportation planning, and roadway analysis.

Essential Skills

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.0-1 year of relevant experience.EIT certification preferred with a willingness to pursue PE or PTOE certification.Completion of a traffic engineering course in college.Familiarity with HCS, Synchro, and AutoCAD.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.Strong communication skills and a collaborative team-oriented mindset.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in traffic engineering and civil engineering.Ability to perform traffic studies and analysis.Proficiency in report writing and Excel analysis.

Work Environment

This position is available due to increased workload, with a hybrid schedule of in-office work on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and remote work on Tuesday and Friday. The team consists of 14 employees, including 8 engineers and 4-5 support staff. You will have your own desk and will likely share an office with a partner. Approximately 80% of your time will be spent in the office, with 20% on-site for tracking traffic reports or attending public meetings. If needed, company vehicles are available for site visits. The role offers a diverse range of projects with a typical completion time of 3-4 weeks, providing a fast-paced and varied work experience. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rosemont, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $35.10/hr.
