Trade Compliance Manager (Aerospace)

Salary Range: $120,000–$130,000 + Full Benefits Package


We are seeking a Trade Compliance Manager with deep expertise in ITAR and EAR regulations to support our client's aerospace operations. This critical role is responsible for preparing and managing U.S. export authorization requests, ensuring seamless implementation of approved authorizations within the business, and providing functional guidance and training to drive compliance with U.S. export control laws and company policies.

 

 

Responsibilities:

Prepare, draft, and submit export license applications (e.g., DSP-5, DSP-61, DSP-73, BIS-748), General Correspondence, and Advisory Opinions to the relevant U.S. government agencies (Department of State and Department of Commerce).

Track and monitor license usage, ensuring adherence to all license terms and conditions.

Review and approve documentation containing controlled technology or technical data for compliance with export regulations.

Review foreign national visit requests to ensure no unauthorized access to export-controlled items or information.

Advise internal teams on export shipping requirements and broader trade compliance issues across departments.

Classify products, software, and technical data for export control purposes (ITAR, EAR, HTS, ECCN, USML) and determine proper jurisdiction.

Manage AES filings through ACE, ensuring accuracy and determining exemptions when applicable.

Maintain complete and compliant export/import records in line with U.S. regulations and internal policy.

Conduct trade compliance training and awareness sessions for employees across functional areas.

Support special projects, including internal assessments, disclosures, contract reviews, and implementation of new compliance protocols.

 

Qualifications:

U.S. Person status (required)

 Bachelor's degree 

Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in an import/export compliance role

Strong working knowledge of ITAR, EAR, and FTR

Skilled in commodity jurisdiction and classification: ECCN, USML, HTS, and Schedule B

Proficiency with export systems and platforms: ACE, SNAP-R, D-TRADE

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Licensed Customs Broker preferred, or a strong interest in pursuing certification
