Role:

This position is responsible for managing daily Customs compliance activity to ensure Caterpillar parts and product flow across international borders in compliance with Customs regulatory requirements. In addition, this role will ensure Customs compliance requirements are met for Caterpillar through a risk management and controls environment.

What You Will Do:

The Trade Compliance Analyst activities include but are not limited to:

Responsible of producing Free Trade Agreement documents for parts produced by Caterpillar according to free trade rules of origin, managing free trade certificate database, managing Customs brokers, tariff classification assignment, Reporting of trade compliance KPI’s, transactional review to determine areas of risk, development and maintenance of controlled process documentation,Management of core trade compliance data, management of Customs record-keeping requirements where applicable, analyze and determine duty opportunities, management of duty drawback program, draft responses to Customs government inquiries, and prepare analysis and material for review with supervisor on Customs legal reviews.Manage administrators for contacting and completing certification process with vendors.  Address inquiries from Customs agencies, resolve Customs exams, and oversee periodic transaction testing audits. Assist in the facilitation of information between Caterpillar and Customs governmental officials for both written communication and meetings. Assist in the determination of eligibility for Caterpillar products to meet preferential tariff treatment under free trade programs: USMCA, US-Chile, US-Australia, US-Dominican Republic, US-Central America, US-Israel, US-Jordan/Oman/Bahrain, US-Columbia, US-Korea. Help the process of issuing certification for prime product and parts to Caterpillar dealers.

Education requirements:

Bachelor's degree in International Business, Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Supply Chain or related fieldFluent English
 

What skills you will have:
 

International Trade:

Ability to support the import and export operation of international trade.Knowledge and Advanced Ability to Perform USMCA Qualification.Ability to comply with export and import regulations as described by regulatory agencies.Working knowledge of international trade compliance or the USMCA trade agreement.


Standard Operating Procedures:

Advanced knowledge and ability to ensure compliance with trade regulations and policies.Ability to design and implement a workflow-based standard operating procedure.Excellent ability to review the efficiency of the standard operating procedure for continuous improvements.

Accuracy and Attention to Detail:

High level of understanding in approaches and tools to verify and collate results.Ability and knowledge to review detailed information in trade compliance documents with good accuracy.Strong skills to learn from mistakes and apply corrective actions.

Analytical Thinking:

Strong skills for the use of data analysis tools such as MS Power BI, MS Access or MS Excel.Excellent business data interpretation skills to make inferences about the meaning of the data and reach conclusions.

Managing Multiple Priorities:

High level of recognition of changes in priorities and reassessment of prioritiesExcellent ability to focus on current work in accordance with assigned priorities based on compliance risk and duty impacts. Ability to manage day-to-day operational priorities while continuing to advance project work.
 

Additional Details:

This position will be located in Nuevo Laredo or Monterrey, MX<10% of working time will be travelWork from Monday to FridayRelocation Assistance is not available for this position.
