Top Secret Lead Product Manager - Airborne Systems
Job Description An aerospace company is looking for a Lead Product Manager - Airborne Systems. The Lead Product Manager – Airborne Systems spends each day translating program requirements, flight‑test goals, and government contract deliverables into prioritized airborne capability increments, ensuring alignment across autonomy, mission systems, payloads, ground systems, and simulation. This role drives integration intent, defines mission workflows and interface expectations, and maintains the airborne capability structure and digital‑thread artifacts from requirements through release. The PM leads cross‑domain product integration forums, enforces clear Definition of Ready and Definition of Done criteria, tracks risks, mitigations, and readiness blockers, and partners closely with engineering, test, and flight‑operations teams to ensure technical execution aligns with operational demonstration needs. They support major design reviews and customer engagements, incorporate stakeholder feedback into capability roadmaps, and provide leadership and mentorship to domain Product Managers to maintain disciplined, outcome‑focused product execution. Eventually, you will be responsible for managing a small team of Product Managers across various disciplines. This is a direct hire opportunity, with a salary range of $180,000 - 220,000. Annual bonus eligibility, stock options, benefits coverage, PTO, and 401K upon offer. This position is onsite in Atlanta or Los Angelas, or hybrid with 15% travel based out of Colorado. Skills and Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline. 8+ years delivering complex aerospace, mission systems, autonomous platforms, or unmanned systems (e.g., MQ‑1, MQ‑4, or similar DoD programs). 5+ years working with Cameo Systems Modeler, SysML, and MBSE workflows (even if not hands-on daily). Strong background in system requirements, SRR/SFR/PDR/CDR processes, and generating/owning systems engineering artifacts. Demonstrated experience defining and managing end‑to‑end product capabilities across multiple subsystems. Deep understanding of mission systems, autonomy, ground operations, and flight‑test environments. Experience collaborating closely with engineering, test, and operations in a fast‑paced, highly technical hardware/software environment. Strong cross-functional leadership, communication, and capability‑prioritization skills. Active Secret clearance required; TS/SCI preferred. Experience working on government aerospace products, unmanned systems, or transition‑focused DoD Experience supporting flight-test programs, rapid prototyping, or demonstration campaigns. Background in mission planning, operator workflows, mission data products, or the data/debrief ecosystem. Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, transition‑focused programs, or working inside a government program office. Experience in requirements extraction, system modeling, and producing systems engineering documentation in support of large-scale programs. Prior exposure to unmanned systems, ISR aircraft, or advanced aerospace systems. Experience helping position a company or team as a prime contractor through structured systems engineering artifacts and deliverables.
