Tool Technician
**Job Title: Tool Technician** **Job Description** The Tool Maintenance/Setup Technician is responsible for disassembling, polishing, cleaning, and replacing inserts in tools, as well as reassembling them and setting them up in various molding machines. **Responsibilities** + Install tools, set up auxiliary equipment and supplies, operate equipment and processes using ergonomic guidelines and best practices. + Remove tools, auxiliary equipment and supplies using ergonomic guidelines and best practices. + Start up equipment and produce acceptable product using provided documentation, and perform shutdowns per best practices and procedures. + Interpret, identify, and record information on job documents. + Perform measurement of required dimensions and maintain adjustments to equipment, tools, and workstations. + Correct the product and processes to meet quality standards. + Complete all job-related documentation accurately and ensure it remains current and properly maintained. + Possess expertise in the tool insert polishing process and effectively apply products to achieve the required surface finishes on tool steel. + Operate all tool insert polishing equipment with a high level of competency. + Work independently in project planning and executing the completion of tool insert preventive maintenance. + Troubleshoot and diagnose problems related to tool cycling and tool function in various molding machines. + Complete miscellaneous tasks as assigned in support of the larger organization and production goals. + Maintain a clean and safe work area, wear required Personal Protective Equipment, perform duties in a safe manner, and observe approved safety procedures. + Communicate potential hazards immediately to supervisor. **Essential Skills** + Ability to demonstrate problem solving and mechanical troubleshooting skills. + Ability to perform repetitive pushing and sliding of tool plates and tool inserts. + Proficiency in repetitive hand, wrist, and grasping of objects with fingers for extended periods. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Minimum: High School diploma and 1-2 years of experience within a manufacturing environment. + Preferred: 2-3 years of experience working as a tool technician within a manufacturing environment. + Experience with maintenance technician roles, blueprint reading, hand tools, pneumatic tools, machine setup and operation, safety procedures, electromechanical systems, preventive maintenance, repair, schematic interpretation, electrical troubleshooting, tool and die work, toolroom operations, machining, machine setup, injection molding, and manual lathe operation. **Why Work Here?** 40% of the workforce has been with the company for more than 25 years, indicating very low turnover. Employees must wear steel-toed boots and safety glasses, and adhere to a dress code that prohibits shorts and cut-off sleeves. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of LE SUEUR, Minnesota. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
