The TIG Welder is responsible for planning, laying out, and fabricating complex production and experimental metal parts and assemblies using a wide range of tools and processes. This role involves interpreting blueprints and work instructions, performing inspections to ensure parts meet required tolerances, and troubleshooting issues within established procedures. The position requires collaboration with teams across departments and may serve as a resource to others.
ResponsibilitiesPlan work and layout, set up, and fabricate a wide variety of intricate, experimental and/or production sheet metal parts and final assemblies from raw materials.Utilize tools such as shears, brakes, drills, sanders, degreasing baths, spray painting, silk screening, non-conformance tools, and manual mills and lathes.Perform MIG, TIG, and spot welding.Interpret standard work instructions, charts, tables, blueprints, formulas, sketches, verbal and electronic orders, and job layouts to accomplish assigned work.Check and inspect operations against specified tolerances.Identify problems and issues in straightforward situations.Communicate with contacts typically within and outside the department on matters involving obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation.May serve as a resource to other employees in areas of proficiency.Work under limited supervision with less detailed instructions and minimal peer review.Essential SkillsProficiency in TIG welding.Proficiency in aluminum welding.Experience in fabricating.Ability to operate an overhead crane.Additional Skills & QualificationsStandard joint uphill plate test.3G bi-metal welding test.D1.1 standard aluminum plate test.Why Work Here?Employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that may include medical, dental, and vision coverage, critical illness, accident, and hospital insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan with pre-tax and post-tax contributions. Work EnvironmentThe work schedule is Monday to Thursday from 6am to 3:30pm, and every other Friday from 6am to 2:30pm.
