The Test Lab Work Team Leader leads a team responsible for conducting tests and delivering accurate, repeatable, cost-effective, and timely test results to a wide range of internal customers. This role is crucial for ensuring test results are available to support key decisions about risk assessment and the readiness of new products for market launch. The supervisor oversees laboratory associates, manages work schedules, and assists with customer tours of the lab facility.

Essential Functions

Team Supervision: Provide daily oversight of lab employees, ensuring clear direction and task assignments. Foster employee development through appropriate training opportunities, manage performance, and recognize achievements.

Customer Tours: Support tours for internal and external customers to highlight the lab’s capabilities and processes, thereby strengthening stakeholder relationships and promoting transparency.

Work Prioritization: Manage the total demand for testing services, aligning internal customer expectations with the lab’s capabilities. Maintain and nurture relationships with groups that depend on lab support.

ISO 17025 Accreditation: Contribute to accreditation efforts by maintaining relevant policies and procedures, overseeing the calibration program, and facilitating department training.

Performance Engineering Support: Collaborate with performance engineering teams to develop new testing methods and establish performance requirements.

Continuous Improvement: Drive and delegate continuous improvement initiatives throughout the laboratory.

Workplace Safety and Organization: Ensure the lab environment is safe, clean, and organized for employees and visitors, complying with state and federal regulations and company policies.

Policy and Procedure Compliance: Enforce laboratory policies and procedures, including the use of systems such as Baan and Workday, to ensure compliance.

Test Report Oversight: Supervise the preparation and review of test reports, guaranteeing accuracy and timely delivery to internal customers.

Staff Training: Provide or coordinate training for lab staff to enhance skills and maintain up-to-date knowledge of laboratory practices and procedures.

Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as required to achieve business objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Industry Knowledge: Applied knowledge of industry standards and testing procedures is strongly preferred.

Education/Experience

Product Testing Experience: Two (2) to four (4) years of product testing experience is preferred.

Team Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading a team.

Communication Skills: Well-developed oral and written communication abilities.

Project Management: Practical knowledge of project management concepts, including scheduling, scope management, resource management, and budgeting, with a proven track record of applying these concepts to achieve business results.

Office Automation Skills: Ability to effectively use office automation and communication tools and software utilized in the HMI office environment, such as Baan and Workday.

Troubleshooting Experience: Experience in troubleshooting laboratory equipment and processes.
