Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for a Sr Principal Test Execution Engineer (26-043) to join our team of talented and diverse professionals. Based in Colorado Springs, CO, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to plan ballistic missile defense operations systematically, monitor the battle collectively, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges during all flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations globally and regionally to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate current and future missile defense system capabilities.
In addition to the test responsibilities listed below, this role requires experience in automated testing, including writing scripts, creating tools to capture output, and maintaining an automated test suite. Additionally, integrate JEMINI Lab test suits our development lab. Develop configurations to facilitate testing and prototypes for evolving systems.
Essential Functions:
Create and modify scripts to extract specific information from log files
Perform data analysis on input, internal, and output message data
Troubleshoot both test and prototype issues
Document test results and prepare test status documentation
Author Spiral and build-level test plan documents and procedures
Create Test Discrepancy Reports to document issues
Assist software development personnel in investigating and resolving issues
Develop troubleshooting procedures and workaround documents
Develop and execute detailed test plans and procedures to test C2BMC in an integrated environment or specific capabilities
Plan and lead C2BMC integration tests with external elements and sensors
Review and provide feedback on system specifications, development, test, and network documents as necessary
Attend meetings with customers and represent the Test team

Document test results and prepare test status documentation
Create Test Discrepancy Reports to document issues
Assist software development personnel in investigating and resolving issues
Develop and execute detailed test plans and procedures to test C2BMC in an integrated environment or specific capabilities

The candidate will develop any supplemental procedures required to ensure successful test execution
Must have experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions using internally generated, industry-accepted, or similar processes and methods
Will have a demonstrated ability to develop briefings and convey complex ideas in writing, be comfortable working in a team environment, be a quick study and a hard worker, and be interested and capable of adapting to changing technology
Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to work effectively in a small technical team environment and to accurately represent test perspectives to C2BMC system architects, software designers, other testers, and test support personnel, the Government customer, and personnel in other MDA programs
Basic Qualifications:
Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the eligibility to be cleared at SCI
Must possess an understanding of systems engineering processes and logistics principles, including artifact generation (e.g., specifications, Interface Control Documents, System Architecture Descriptions, Use Cases, Trade Studies)
Must have experience with requirements development/collaboration, use case development/collaboration, technical writing, and communication/presentation skills
Agile processes and development methodology
Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants with a current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, CND, etc.) at the time of application are highly desired. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their DoD 8140 certification throughout the contract period
Experience with network applications and networking concepts is desired, along with experience in military systems used for space domain awareness or missile defense, such as the Space Surveillance Network, AN/TPY2, SBIRS/BOA, Aegis, THAAD, Patriot, UEWR, and SBX, including their operational characteristics
Technical writing/test procedure creation
Space/C2BMC/Missile Defense experience
Systems/Security Integration and System/Software Testing, including virtualized environments
Experience integrating system components within an integrated test environment
Working knowledge of system design, system security design, and overall integration into an operational environment
Familiarity with VMware, virtual servers, UNIX, including shell scripting
In-depth understanding of Windows and Unix systems
Working knowledge of test plan/procedure preparation and test execution
Preferred experience with containerized virtual environments.

Primary Level Salary Range: $117,500.00 - $176,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
