Test Engineer

Eaton’s ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a Test Engineer.

What you’ll do:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

     Provide equipment, requirements and processes for testing of products during the industrialization phase of development and continued support after the products are released for sale. This includes all ICD products manufactured at Coamo and Haina locations. 
     
     Testing of new product hardware design, test specification development, equipment fabrication, and functional testing of products.  This includes observation and guidance of work activities of plant personnel in roles such as machining, fabrication, assembly, and testing to ensure effective utilization of material and manpower resources in meeting production objectives.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.    Trouble shoot and repair existing test equipment as required.
2.    Evaluate and make recommendations on test equipment upgrade and replacement.
3.    Analyze proposed product design changes for potential impact on test equipment.
4.    Determine with input from Development, Marketing, Quality Assurance, Standardization, and Manufacturing, the specific production tests that are required for a new product.
5.    Make design recommendations to the Development Engineer that will improve the manufacturability and testability of new products and will reduce production test failures.
6.    Determine yield requirements for production tests based on project production quantities and tests to be performed.
7.    Write production test equipment specifications, including requirements for hardware, software, and functionality.
8.    Establish schedules and cost estimates associated with test equipment.
9.    Perform make versus buy analysis for test equipment.
10.    Determine and coordinate production facility infrastructure requirements for test equipment such as power, air, ventilation, security, safety, etc.
11.    Coordinate the building of test equipment and labeling equipment and write custom software to meet the requirements of the test specification and production.
12.    Plan and approve design documentation for test equipment.  
13.    Conduct R & R and MSA exercises on the test equipment to ensure the consistency of the product screening process.
14.    Plan and execute storage and access of test results for future data analysis and product improvements.
15.    Develop a maintenance schedule and spare parts list for test equipment.
16.    Train personnel in the operation and safety requirements of the test equipment.
17.    Develop preventive maintenance procedures and train employees on the proper use and maintenance of the test equipment.
18.    Assist facility calibration department in establishing calibration procedure and schedule for the test equipment.
19.    Perform functional checkout of equipment to verify the equipment fulfills all requirements of the test specification.
20.    Coordinate the transfer of test equipment associated with product transfers within a plant or between plants. 
21.    Keep all interested parties informed on project progress and coordinate these activities with status information.
22.    Participate as requested in Product Design Reviews, Lot A Reviews, and Safety Reviews.
23.    Participate in DFMEA and PFMEA for new product programs.

 

2.1    - Responsibilities related to Health, Safety and Environment (EHS):
1.    Execute 100% of monthly safety inspection, in coordination with the MESH Coordinator.
2.    Assist to all EHS training assigned.

Specialized Knowledge:

1.    Bachelor degree in appropriate branch of engineering such as Electrical, Electronic or Software. 
2.    Minimum of 3 years related work experience in test equipment development or software development.
3.    Experience with product development and maintenance.
4.    Successful candidate will have knowledge of manufacturing processes manufacturing operations, quality processes and procedures, project management. 
5.    Proficiency with many application software packages such as MS Access, Work, Excel, and PowerPoint, C++, National Instruments Lab View, AutoCAD, EasyLabel and Visual Basic is required.  
6.    Thorough knowledge and technical understanding of computers and computer peripherals (Com ports, printers, digital I/O boards).
7.    Thorough knowledge and technical understanding of communications protocols (RS232, RS485, Ethernet).
8.    Thorough knowledge and technical understanding of Windows operating systems.
9.    Ability to write basic test programs using Visual Basic, C Programming or other appropriate programming language.
10.    Thorough understanding of databases. (Dbase IV, Microsoft Access, Oracle)
11.    Thorough knowledge and understanding of control system circuitry and ability to read schematics.
12.    Ability to troubleshoot electrical designs down to the component level.
13.    Basic knowledge of local and national electrical codes.
14.    Ability to use current, voltage measurement devices and an oscilloscope.
