PurposeThe Department of Computer Science at UT Austin is seeking a Resident Director for our high school summer academies. This is a summer camp position on UT's campus with free food and housing provided. Scheduled hours are mostly in the evenings, with some daytime hours on Sunday. You'll live in the dorms, oversee evening activities, and supervise 6 staff members and 60 high school campers each week. Take students bowling, supervise movie nights, eat meals with campers in the dining hall, and help create a memorable summer experience. The Resident Director position is an excellent fit for someone who would like to have their days free for additional work, study, or simply enjoying summer on campus. This role reports to the Academy Director.
ResponsibilitiesSupervise 60 high school campers during evening and overnight hours for each academy session. Lead and train undergraduate Program and Resident Assistants. Coordinate evening activities across campus, working with various UT organizations.
Serve as the evening and overnight contact for staff and students. Learn and enforce UT safety policies to ensure compliant academy operations. Manage daily schedules and student supervision. Handle crises professionally and maintain a safe, welcoming environment. Engage with students, parents, and families.
Required QualificationsSupervisory or teaching experience preferred. Strong administrative and organizational skills. Comfortable being an authority figure for undergraduate staff and high school students. Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Crisis management skills and sound judgment. Ability to learn UT safety policies and maintain compliance, Integrity and professionalism
Preferred QualificationsMore than the required qualifications. Previous experience as a resident advisor for a summer camp.
Hourly Rate$22.00 + depending on qualifications

Resident Director logs approximately 40 hours per week, with some overtime depending on program schedule. Must reside in dorms during program sessions. Daytime hours are free.
