This position is best suited for a hands-on MRO buyer with strong manufacturing experience who can step in quickly, manage priorities independently, and partner cross-functionally in a fast-paced production environment.
Responsibilities:
Manage daily MRO purchasing for stock and non-stock items, production supplies, and outside support services
Support and perform non-MRO purchasing activities as needed
Create and process purchase orders, RFQs, expedited orders, and vendor setup requests
Track order status, resolve past-due orders, and address material shortages
Partner with Accounts Payable to resolve PO and invoice discrepancies
Collaborate closely with Maintenance, Stores, Engineering, and Operations teams
Identify, track, and support cost-savings and sourcing improvement initiatives
Build and maintain a qualified supplier base focused on cost, quality, and availability
Support vendor-managed, consignment, and off-site inventory programs
Communicate plant-level needs and issues to sourcing partners and suppliers
Ensure all purchasing activities comply with safety, food safety, quality, and environmental standards
Provide limited after-hours or holiday buyer coverage when required
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Skills:
5+ years of experience in MRO purchasing and/or Stores materials management
Prior experience in a manufacturing environment (food or CPG preferred)
Strong working knowledge of ERP purchasing systems (JD Edwards preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Effective communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional partners

Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in MRO purchasing and/or Stores materials management
